September 8, 1995 - Lee, Ringo, Christian Paris (?) and Barbara going to hospital. On August 29 Lee was recovering in a London clinic where she had undergone to an operation to drain fluid from her brain.
In August of 1995, Lee (aged 24) collapsed in England and was rushed to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a rare form of brain tumour called ependymoma. She had previously had numbness in her leg and arm, however luckily, the tumor was curable.
Within three weeks she was undergoing a second operation at Brigham Women’s Hospital, Boston where neurosurgeon Dr. Peter Black performed an experimental four-hour operation on Starkey.
She went on to stay in Boston for six weeks where she had repeated eight-minute blasts of radiation every day.
Six years later in 2001, when she was 31, the brain tumor returned, but she succesfully won the battle for second time and lives in a healthy condition.
