No son of mine is getting away with hitting girls.
Robert’s punishment for hitting Donna keeps growing while Ned puts a bug in Jack’s ear that maybe, just maybe, Donna was the bully.
Scene 1: As further punishment, Jack has Robert put his video game unit away (he’s ‘banned from using it during the holidays’). Andy almost speaks up but in the end doesn’t. Plus, Jack gives Robert a list of chores to do that day which Robert grudgingly takes (‘Tell him that we’re scared of lasses? I’d rather do the yard.’) and Andy decides to help him.
Jack: Tell him why?
Robert: For hitting Donna.
Jack: For being a coward. No son of mine is getting away with hitting girls. (well you must be very proud of Andy then yet he’s still the favored son eh 😒)
Scene 2: Ned sees the boys sweeping and comments to Jack them looking ‘really sorry.’ When Jack starts to rile at him, he makes him begin to consider the reason behind the boxing lessons - the bully in school, maybe, just maybe, being Donna.
Ned: That Robert and Andy wanting boxing lessons cause of a bully at school.
Jack: Yeah.
Ned: And maybe, just maybe, Robert hit the bully.
Jack: Donna?
Ned: And that’s the reason why they won’t tell us why the fight started. They’re embarrassed.
Jack: But Robert and Andy being bullied by a girl?
Ned: It happens, Jack.
