I caught up on the last two days of Emmerdale
Sigh
Remember when the summer spoilers were actual storylines? Now they're nothing more than plots of the week. I knew better than to expect anything from the run away trailer, so I saved myself there. At least Robert had his arms out. That's a win. And he was injured enough to need a brace for more than one episode. And Aaron was also in a t-shirt, so thanks for that I guess. Haha.
The Serena stuff is wildly convoluted. John was desperate and on the run but apparently up for a little break and some pics with the cousin. Because sure. I mean obviously this is all a retcon but could they at least try and make it somewhat sensible? And the cop or ex cop stuff is still really weird and I'm still unsure I believe it. At the same time I really do understand both Robert and Aaron's thought processes here. I get why both men feel the way they they do. I absolutely understand Robert desperately wanting to believe her and therefore be able to keep her around. I also completely understand Aaron steadfastly mistrusting her and wanting her nowhere near him or Robert. That all makes sense. There is an actual story here. A decent if not actually good story here but for some reason the show isn't interested in telling it. I just don't understand where any of this is going or what the hell the point is if it's not building towards reckonings for Robert and Aaron.
I do like the Mack stuff. It makes sense given everything that has happened. Emma continues to be good but the entire story has spun so far away from what it started out as that I just want it to be over.
It sucks that they're only giving Noah scenes now that he's leaving. The actor has never been strong but that's still the wrong Dingle demographic to be cutting.
The Jimmy stuff actively pisses me off. It's really disgusting to actually write the story as Jimmy literally showing Kev how to replace him. It's massively insulting to both Nick as a long standing actor on this show as well as Jimmy and Nicola as characters. It's straight up gross. It's also not helping that Kev possesses none of the bumbling charm that Jimmy does. I get that he's the current shiny new toy but he's truly just a one trick pony and the trick is wearing massively thin and none of this shit is funny. It's straight up bro humor. Also Chris and Bradley have zero chemistry as actors. Or they're trying too hard but their scenes don't work. And sorry but characters of all relationship types need some level of chemistry to be compelling. These two are not.
