Their constant desperation to be running some other type of show instead of the one with 50 years of history they are actually tasked with only makes me feel more pessimism tbh. Sorry, it's hard right now.
And therein lies the problem. Instead of looking back at the showâs rich history to understand what made it work so successfully, they are relying on feedback that is outside the niche of soaps. In doing so, they are fracturing/dissolving the very essence of what soaps are about. If I wanted to watch a crime drama, Iâd watch a crime drama not remold a soap to be one. Soaps are an ensemble that work together to bring varying povâs into diverse stories to make them as robust and engaging as possible. Removing that essence just makes it all mechanical, without heart. You also need a balance of light and dark but when itâs mostly darkâŠ
I really wanna bring optimism but I need something more than the crumbs that weâve been handed by arch enemy PowerPoint Shaw these last few months as to whatâs to come moving forward with the lads. It wouldnât take much, just something thatâs more substantive than a line here and there and thatâs more than a concept based on a US show.
Thereâs also Jimmyâs death which I hope will have some impact for Robert.
Look at us being clowns and hoping đ. The barn fires have been directly impacting Robert and now heâs nowhere to be seen. The psycho husband is coming back and he doesnât seem to be around for that, initially, either. Dead Jimmy will not even enter Robertâs story bubble.
Yeah, definitely đ€Ą ing when it comes to Jimmy since they barely exchanged a line since Robert returned. It becomes very frustrating when you have the foundation built and bricks were being laid but itâs all torn down in the end, and those moments canât be made up later, forever lost.
Too many storylines have been started and turned into something else, there's so much that has to come out or be wrapped up. There's Sadie returning. K*v and whatever happens whilst he's here and when he goes. The farm 'wars.' Charity and the revelation of the baby secret and what Dr. Todd has done to her. It's looking pretty obvious what the rest of the year holds...
Itâs feels very Dingle-centric with the Tates (plus the PowerPoint butler) coming in a close second. The rest (including the lads) are fighting for reasonable airtime amongst all that. Maybe if LS would actual give more than a few throwaway lines about them, my overall outlook for them would be boosted.
Surely they must finally get the A plot and proper pov, it will be over 6 months at that stage of being in other peopleâs stories.
I have zero faith in the show at this point (Robertâs ptsd continuing to be ignored as is Aaronâs own psychological abuse by J). They start a plot and drop it when they seem to get bored of it, have no closure planned or just want to go in a different direction. I hope theyâll get povâs and depth but itâll all depend on the plot(s) theyâll be involved in. The Sarah angle and the new Sugden has potential but the farm wars⊠nope. Sebastian is key really but when theyâll actually decide to bring him back is the big questionâŠ
A van pulling up sounds like Lewis is about to get abducted but surprise! Itâs just a guy with cakes! Yay! You see because he may look tough and scary on the outside but heâs actually as sweet as his cakes:)
Lewis will be so thrilled to see the funny one so abruptly that he will change his plans ready and willing to listen to more advice while Vinny will see the psycho as he truly is.
Iâm leaning toward it not happening this year. We have the so-called farm wars and whatever form that will translate onto the screen. Thereâs Sarah wondering over to the Sugden side âfor a timeâ and whoever they are bringing into the Sugdens to boost their numbers. Thereâs also Jimmyâs death which I hope will have some impact for Robert. And thereâs their wedding (will it be secondary to another plot or will they be allowed to be A plot?).
One issue for me currently pushing things to next year is how isolated theyâve made Robert and this bs about him being responsible for Coiraâs ills (Moiraâs imprisonment and âtakingâ their farm from them). Sebastian could be easily used as a pawn against both of them by Joe and others. Thereâs already gonna be built-in angst because of the years missed out but messing with a childâs head because of hatred against the two of themâŠ
When are we properly expecting them back? I know there might be a chance we get them in between but it does seem Danny was at work the other week.
Is third week of July too optimistic?
Week 26 (wo 22-Jun) potentially looks to be around the time Danny came back briefly to film before going on holiday (or is that too soon?). Mid/late July is the timeframe Iâm expecting them to be on more frequently (whatever that will mean in this new normal for them and gaining their own povâs).
At least it looks like his return is a Z plot. It does involve Lewis, after all. I hope it stays that way if heâll be around for a bit. I canât imagine anything or anyone else will be allowed as A plot with Cain and Charity around.
More than likely he shows up at the tale end of the Friday episode (the midnight spoilers/Digital Spy alluding to the specific day) and will unfortunately be more prominent the following week, C plot. If we are lucky, we might get a brief glimpse of the lads in week 26 being happy in his sights đ before they disappear again đ.
âA van pulls upâ makes it sound like clowny shows up to the village as opposed to being nearby and gets seen. God. I wonder if heâll try and get Lewisâ attention by being a ârivalâ business that sells food. More manipulation, then.
Pfft. His form of manipulative âbondingâ by creating a competition with his food truck (obviously purchased using money from pawning the stolen loot⊠which shouldâve been on the coppers radars but is gonna be ignored as well đ). Plot has gotta revision plot.
Another week of Cain. I think he's had 1 week off this year for those rubbish flashbacks.
The new normal it appears. They really donât get that you need breaks every once in a while from your umbrella plot and they definitely didnât learn anything from the slavery one (or whatever taf it turned into in the end). This yearâs new format continues to tank.
