Ross hoping Jasmine would help him with the coppers is in for a rude awakening. Ross is charged with Shaneās murder with Donna unclear whether heād done it or not. Jimmy almost provokes a fight with Zak after hearing from Ashley of Tomās defaced gravestone. The turnout at Matthewās funeral but Anna shows up for a final time. Carl delivers the eulogy. Chas and Carl share a hug. Chas realizes Aaron defaced Tomās gravestone.

1) Jasmine is ready to confess but Jasmine persuades her to hold offā¦ they share a passionate kiss. Katie lets slip to Jimmy about Rodney going ahead with the Home Farm hunt. Jimmy and the gun totting husband of the huntswoman go to confront Rodney. Jamie and the block wrestleā¦ Jimmy is shot in the arse.
2) Carl repossesses the garage as Debbie is late on payment. Chas intervenes as the taxi firm is in jeopardy. Chas confronts Carlā¦ he loves her not Lexi and share a kissā¦ heāll reconsider taking the garage if she gives him a chance. Marlon is homeless so the Dingles get involved threatening Donna. Rodney offers a cut of the profits to Jimmy from the hunt. Jamie will be happy to work if Rodney again if he stays away from the ladies.

1) Aaron breaks into the Mill and graffitis the walls in protect of Carlās treatment of Chasā¦ Carl goes after him and Chas tells him of Tomās grave. Aaron makes Chas choose between him and Carlā¦ Chas lies to Carl thereās nothing between them. Carl is resurrecting King & Sons via the garage but Debbieās repayments will rise. Paul gets a letter from Jonny wanting to tie up loose ends with their marriage. Lily and Val plot but for different reasons involving Paul.
2) Val schemes to throw Paul a divorce party to cheer him up. Lilyās plan hits a snag with Jonnyās mum shows up instead of Jonny who left for Australia a few days earlier. Jimmy and Carl get semi-positive feedback from old contacts but are torn about rebranding. Donna gets Marlon for another chance but he canāt give her an answer yet.
3:35 PM 30-Jul: 13-Jan-2009 one hour! (5194**/5195**, Writer Steve Hughes, Director Henry Foster)
Eli convinces Marlon to give his marriage a second chance as long as Donna cuts Ross out of her life. Donna gets a visitation letter from Ross and sees him. Ross convinces Donna to follow up on why Jasmine liedā¦ Donna senses Jasmine and Debbie are hiding something as Debbie tries to warn her off. Val intervenes with Patricia who tells Paul Jonny still loves him. Lily gives Paul the money to buy a ticket for Australia.
3:35 PM 31-Jul: 14-Jan-2009 (5196**, Writer Peter Kerry, Director Rob Rohrer) NOTE: single 1/2 hour episode!
Paul is in a quandary about going in search of Jonny with Laurel offering him advice. Rodney gives Paul his blessing while Val plots to keep Paul in the village lying Rodney has a serious heart condition. Debbie is furious that Jasmine wants to follow Ashley and Laurel to Leedsā¦ sheās just running away. Lisa accuses Aaron of stealing from the family pot but Chas takes the blame. Chas demands answers from Aaron who continues to make life hard for herā¦ she breaks down and bolts upstairs.
Wait, are some people trying to disregard or ignore Robertās redemptions arcs to justify Kev not having one? Very āSo you agree? He hasnāt changed as a character and wasnāt redeemed?ā šššš If they want to drag Aaron and Robert into this to defend that joke, at least have better arguments.
I donāt really see the bulk of it because of muting and whatnot but not surprised. Look at the flack he got with the recent ID rewrite when it was down to Joeās coercion and protecting his only family. Robertās got his redemptions and itās permanently stuck after all these years but certain things some wonāt ever let go after all this time, both by the show and viewers.
I always go back to what if Tom just popped up to live in the village after prison, would Belle be made to accept him and the ignore their past? Tom would still require a redemption arc to prove himself but plot says nah, we have other things we want to do with him so we are gonna retcon it and move forward. Thatās the show now.
According to some random Kev fan, Robert had no redemption arc!?
Let's see, he was outed to Chrissie so lost everything, marriage, home, money, reputation, his brother had him shot and put in a coma, he saved Aaron's life and helped him survive Gordon's return and the trial, found key witness Sandra, stepped up for Liv, helped Andy flee the country, saved Aaron's life again, got him out of prison, lost everything a second time (his husband, his home and his best friend), almost died again, let Aaron go, helped Adam flee the country, helped Alex woo Aaron and even cooked a Valentine's Day meal for him and Aaron, basically became baby Seb's only care giver when Rebecca was ill, never gave up on finding her when she was missing, let her take Seb to Liverpool to make amends, pleaded guilty so Vic wouldn't have to testify, divorced Aaron to spare him, went to prison for 6 years even though Luke hit Lee first, was left with ptsd he still suffers from, hasn't slept in 6 years, lost his son, let aunt Angela raise him because it's what Rebecca would have wanted, tried to save the whole village from John, never once asked for an apology and did more than Cain (who actually did nothing) to free Moira from prison, even planning to go back there himself even if it killed him. And he still to this day gets called every insulting name in the book by villagers and viewers alike.
Kindly shut up. What has your guy done to "change"? Bought a funny hat?
Charity and Cainās stories being dragged out like this makes me think the show is including them in the summer stunt. It would feel redundant because they were also in Corriedale. Iām a hypocrite because would I complain if they throw Robron in there? Probably not. But I will understand if people had an issue with that.
That upcoming stunt is their best kept secret to date. Other than itāll probably be Jimmyās swan song, we donāt know whoās involved and who else may be killed off. Charity and Cain already have heavy A plots, do they need to be involved in this too? The lads being involved is a toss up but at least theyād get some screen time if they were.

Noahās got a new job in Dusseldorf, but Charityās reaction means a change of plans.

1) The new owners of Home Farm have arrived, Mark and Natasha Wylde. Not only have they bought Home Farm but the church as well to give back to the community! Mark is disgruntled as itās clear that Natasha made the church arrangements up on the spot. Paul is worried for Rodney but itās down to a keep-fit session not a terminal illness. Aaron looks after Belle but gets a dressing down from Lisa for stepping away to answer his mobile.
2) Aaron causes more trouble for Belle as he steals from the Wyldes removal van and she takes the flack. Lisa kicks Aaron out for his lack of remorse. Chas leaves with Aaron. The villagers help the Wyldes unpack when they complain about incompetent removal men. The Wyldes plan to charge rent on the vicarage. Lisa invites Marlon and Donna to Zakās birthday party. Marlon defends Donna to Shadrach and lets slip about the surprise birthday party.
04-Aug: 19-Jan-2009 (5199, Writer Lindsay Williams, Director Rob Rohrer), 20-Jan-2009 one hour! (5200**/5201**, Writer Sarah Bagshaw, Director Tom Poole)
1) At Zakās party, Donna on the sly, makes a discovery that links a feedbag back to Shaneās body and heads to the cop station to confirm her suspicions. Natasha gets a guided tour of the estate from Rodney and pieces together gossip on Shaneās murder and howād it would affect Home Farmās reputation. Natasha gets concerned with Katie and Markās closeness. Chas and Aaron are staying at Paddyās.
2) Donna learns the feedbag around Shaneās body came from the Dingle homestead and believes Eli is guilty by his reaction. Eli worries Jasmine and Debbie (who kiss) are getting too close and could frame him. The police order a search of the Dingle barn and Eli vows revenge. The Wyldes let go Rodney but allow Katie to remain. Aaron tells Paddy he knows heās crushing on Chas and will keep quiet if he makes it worth his while.
05-Aug: 21-Jan-2009 (5202, Writer Bill Taylor, Director Tom Poole), 22-Jan-2009 (5203, Writer Tim Dynevor, Director Tom Poole)
1) Eli is released due to lack of evidence. Marlon is dumbfounded Donna betrayed his family to save her loverā¦ their marriage is over. Natasha is not happy Mark turned down Jimmy and Carlās request to rent Pear Tree Cottage to prevent the Kings getting a foothold. Mark makes a mysterious call wanting info on Jimmy and changes his mind about the cottage. Jimmy plans to persuade Scarlett to go to college.
2) Thereās a payoff involved by Mark when he tries to ensure Jamie doesnāt see info he got on Jimmy which leads to a bit of harm on Jamie. A downtrodden Marlon reiterates to Donna their marriage is over, Tricia was his love of his life and heās filing for divorce. Lily leads Paul to a surprise meeting with Jonnyā¦ the two still love each other but Jonnyās life is in Australiaā¦ Paul canāt leave because of Rodneyās āconditionā.
06-Aug: 23-Jan-2009 (5204, Writer Mark Illis, Director Mark McKillop), 26-Jan-2009 (5205, Writer Mark Illis, Director Mark McKillop)
1) Jasmine assures Laurel that she isnāt pregnant and admits Shane tried to assault her before rushing off. Laurel finds Jasmine who confesses to killing Shane. Paul thinks Rodney is denial about his āconditionā which Nicola uses to her benefit with David for sympathy. Jimmy and Carl move the business back to the cottage. Jimmyās plan to get Scarlett back to collage fails when she brings in a new client. Donna asks for a transfer down south.
2) Laurel suggests Jasmine own up to save an innocent man but notices the power Debbie holds over herā¦ they are an item again. Laurel hears of Eliās arrestā¦ Debbie wants to do a runner with Jasmine. Zak realizes Eli had something to do with Shanes death. Based on evidence from the Dingle van, Eli is arrested. Poor Paul grows despondent when Rodney wonāt confide in him about his āconditionā. All the gossip makes Pollard believe they are talking about his health.
07-Aug: 27-Jan-2009 one hour! Goodbye Jonny Foster! Goodbye Paul Lambert until Jun-2010! (5206/5207, Writer Samantha Doland De Vaux, Director Mark McKilliop)
The coppers press hard on Eli with all the evidence they found against him which could lead to a life sentence for murderā¦ Eli breaks down and confesses the truth. Jasmine and Debbie plan their getawayā¦ Jasmine knocks Laurel out when she tries to stop her. Jasmine watches Debbie being taken from a taxi by the coppers as she remains on a bus. Pollard freaks seeing Val with a funeral hat. David is back with Nicola because of Rodney. Paul confronts Rodney learning Valās been lying about both his and Pollardās ill health. Paul bids goodbye to the village to join Jonny in Australia.
So true like as torturous as it is having him on I wont complain about it keep him on and on and ruin it all you want shove him more and more idc. Because when we had the same complaints last year we were made out to be the ātoxicā fans. But now they want to talk about ruining characters and having so much plot ??? Nah let them crash and burn and ruin it themselves maybe then they will come to their senses!
He was never meant to be a long-term character and less is definitely more in this case. So now he needs to be made to fit in somehow (and letās cut out any silly redemption arc and whatnot in the process) and the way itās being done is showing the limitations of his character and displeasing his fans apparently. And itās bad to say anything against him. We donāt need to say anything, the show will do all the work on that front.
The farm show putting all their Kev eggs in one basket because a couple of people found an abusive asshole hilarious and now, theyāve gone and ruin it because itās repetitive as hell and the audience donāt like Steve ššš¤£. I hope they keep it up because this crashing and burning may be the most entertaining the show has been this year.
They wanted him back, they get what they get š¤·āāļø.
With all these long, repetitive storylines where no one seems to exhibit any evolution of character makes me already tired of Sadie. If sheās going to be the same person she was 20 years ago and is being driven by the same wants and goals, then whatās the point?
Am unfortunately weary of anything that is coming in the fall simply because of Ms PowerPoint. She doesnāt know how to tell a story without 1) cutting corners, 2) overdosing a plot with filler, 3) retconning events to fit plot, 4) repeating things ad nauseam, etc. Sadie might come in great at the start but, like everything else this year has already shown us quite clearly, staying the path and keeping it consistent, interesting and not overusing the characterā¦ low expectations.
Are they trying to make us get tired of every character so when the show ends we donāt care anymore.
I donāt want to see Paddy Marlon or April for another year. Iāve had enough of the constant Cain pep talks and they arenāt going to stop until heās got one from everyone. Iām sure Kev will be next in line to motivate him.
They just donāt get putting characters on continuously as they are just turns to character fatigue very quickly. There is a difference between Netflix shows and tv shows that range between 6 and 22 episodes. You sit through 6-8 episodes all at once and wait a year or two for a new season. Another is have an episode released weekly until the season ends. Soaps do not fall in either of these niches. They are on five days a week and need a rotation of stories and characters to keep viewers interested (liking certain characters over others is a given). But when you pigeonhole the soap into those other niches, it literally falls apart and creates a domino effect. You get fed up with both the story that seems to get stuck in a groove forever (and ends badly) and/or the characters being constantly in your face day in/day out to the point you donāt want to see them for a long time again. This pushing a circle into a square peg approach is failing and the show isnāt seeing that. They didnāt see it with the slavery plot that morphed into something unrecognizable and itās happening with the Cain plot as well. They need to wake up and actually listen to the criticisms and stop ignoring them.
No Serena spoilers? Theyāre going to pause that story even though it just began. Canāt do the same for clowny, though. That oneās never gonna end.
Cain and that other one, with a side of Charity, is ED this year, everyone else gets scooted in as needed. And I guess with Serena, theyāll have reached whatever plot point was needed and itās break time for her as well.
Rolling my eyes so hard at Dawn feeling trapped. She found out what Joe did and had her chance to leave but still stayed with him šššš.
They are biding their time until her character leaves. Having her accept everything Joe has done and STILL staying with him knowing he wonāt changeā¦ and doesnāt want to BUT is still being rewarded with a child?!?ā¦ donāt know what to say. She had her chances and didnāt take them but still is marrying him.
Does anyone know how to get off this hamster wheel from hell ??! I feel like I read the same spoilers for months now OH MY GOD!!! we have not achieved a single closure or resolutionā¦????? What are we doing ? Actually what the fuck are they doing? I want Robron off thatās fine but can we have anything else to look forward to?
Eject Ms PowerPoint from the show (along with IM). Sheās been there for way too long and apparently ITV canāt be arsed to care that the show is barely watchable these days. THIS IS NOT NORMAL SOAPING!!!! I donāt care if money is tight but going to this extreme will NOT bring in viewers but turn them away. Itās almost like a stretched out version of novellas that are being slowed down to sloth levels which only makes it worse (one US soap tried the novella approach and it was cancelled within two years!).
They are also waiting for the stunt to happen, the same thing that stunted the show because of the wait for Corriedale to air. Everything is in a hold and going in circles because of that. Who knows what state the show will be after that. Post-Corriedale was the ruination of the show, what will it be post-stunt?
