So, something I heard pointed out: Both Marvel and DC, ESPECIALLY the latter love the idea of "legacy heroes". Superheroic identities that are passed on from one person to another, like the many different Robins, Flashes, Spider-Men, ETC. But I think there's a notable lack of superVILLAIN legacies. Am I just looking in the wrong places or is that a real trend and, if so, why, do you think?
Legacy Villains are definitely a thing, albeit to a lesser degree than Legacy Heroes.. At DC there have been at least three Clayfaces and two Captain Boomerangs. At Marvel there have been at least two Beetles, two Electros, at least one would-be successor to Doctor Octopus in the form of Lady Octopus, a slew of goblins (hob or otherwise) Bullseye and Lady Bullseye, three Razor Fists, multiple Titanium men. Actually, according to TvTropes almost every Spider-Man villain you'd recognize has gotten an understudy at least once. This isn't exhaustive by any means but I'm not transcribing everyone I dug up on the TVtropes page for Legacy Character when I can just link the fucking thing. So it's pretty common, but it doesn't hit the same in the popular consciousness- you didn't have it as part of your internal map of the dynamic- because these villains don't headline. At least, they don't do this with the ones who headline. There isn't some critical mass of people who are superfans enough of Max Dillon or Mac Gargan for it to be parade-worthy when they swap them out for some new guy. When they killed Captain America during Civil War, that got in the news. The real life, dead-tree newspaper ran articles about that, because apparently nobody told them how death works in comic books. But do you think any newspaper ran an article when they killed Hobgoblin? I don't even know if they actually killed Hobgoblin or not, I'm just assuming that they must have killed at least one because TvTropes lists about. five or six hobgoblins
It's after midnight here and my sleep-deprived brain has come up with possibly the worst AU in the entire world that I will never end up fully writing
without further ado here is the
✨✨GOOD OMENS MAGICAL GIRL AU ✨✨
A.J. Crowley and Azalea Rose Fell go to rival high schools with opposing colour schemed uniforms
They meet by coincidence when Azi stops Crowley from running over a cat with her bike
The cat, named Adam, gives them pens that transform them into magical girls, and now they have to team up to save the world
The A in A.J. Crowley stands for Antoinette. No one knows what the J stands for
Azi lives in a used bookshop that's been around for centuries with her great aunt
This great aunt's name is Madam Tracy
They live next door to what used to be a record shop which is now home to a 'private investigator' called Mr. Shadwell
Crowley's bike has a name. It's name is Bentley
The popular crowd at Azi's school is full of nasty preppy girls (and one guy). They're obviously Uriel, Michael, and Gabriel
This is contrasted to the main gang at Crowley's school being a literal gang consisting of Hastur, Ligur, and Beelzebub
These two gangs fuckin hate each other (or do they)
Azi has two best friends at school. Their names are Maggie and Anathema
Anathema adopts Adam the cat who keeps trying to escape so he can help with saving the world but ends up really liking Anathema's house
Crowley has one friend. Her name is Nina. she also has a bike
Newt turns up at some point.
He gets sent to Crowley's school and is incredibly out of place among all the delinquents, literal gansters, and tough looking anime characters
Nina and Crowley adopt newt into their bike gang
I should specify that when I say bike I mean normal pedal bikes not motorbikes
Anathema has a little brother called Warlock
Azi introduces Newt and Anathema as Newt is staying with his uncle Mr. Shadwell and Newt tags along when Azi visits Anathema's house to talk to Adam the cat
Nina and Newt's bikes also have names. Nina's is monster (after the drink) and Newt's is dick turpin (he thought it was funny)
Crowley is still genderfluid in this AU. You don't know what gender they're going to turn up as from episode to episode. He could be a boy. She could be a girl. What's important is that they look like a magical sailor and they're going to kick some bad guy ass
Lesley the post guy is around too. He's just trying to do his job but these magical schoolkids keep getting in the way. He's like the cabbage guy from atla but a post guy
Crowley's apartment is exactly the same including plants that are routinely yelled at
Apparently their parents are rich and always on holiday. We never meet Crowley's parents (they don't exist)
Joe Flaherty as Floyd Robertson - SCTV
Maybe when Spamton said "boysengirls" he was addressing any girls who happened to be boysenberries
Have a treat. Seeing as I'm working on a larger project I thought I'd throw something quick and sweet together for ya. A little snack to hold y'all over until 8/8
