"I didn't mean to kill her." With Jason Todd or Dick Grayson. Congrats on 1k!
I hope you enjoy this sentence starter! Thank you! The entire sentence starter will be left in italics because I’ve decided to make it a flashback, it’s also a little sad!
“I didn’t mean to kill her!” Jason cried as he held the small bunny in his hands. Dick hovered over his shoulder. Dick rubbed his brother’s shoulder as an attempt to comfort him.
“It wasn’t your fault,” Dick whispered as he tried to carefully take the small creature from Jason’s hands. Jason screamed at him to back away as he hugged her close to him and his body continued to shake with sobs.
“We need to bury her, it’s what she deserves,” Jason sniffed as he looked at Dick. Dick nodded sadly and ran towards the garden shed to look for a hand-held shovel.
“Dick?” Bruce called as he heard noise coming from there. Dick’s head popped up from the shed and a tear fell from his face. Bruce’s face contorted with worry and he gave the small boy a rub on his arm. “What’s wrong?”
“Jason and I were running and I pushed him by accident and he fell on a bunny and now she’s dead and he thinks it’s his fault, but it’s mine! It’s mine because I pushed him and because I pushed him-” Dick cut himself off when he realized he hadn’t taken a breath.
“Slow down, Dick. Where’s Jason?” Dick pointed towards the large oak tree and sniffled. Bruce led Dick towards the tree and saw Jason crying as he hugged the bunny and rocked himself back and forth. Bruce’s heart clenched and he explained to the boys that it was neither their faults; that things like these just happened and it was life’s cruel joke on the living.
Jason and Dick properly buried the small bunny and even left flowers that they ripped from the garden. When the coast was clear, Jason took out the hand-held shovel and carved into the tree above the bunny’s burial ground before they headed back inside.
“Miss Bunny. We’re sorry. Pls pay respects to the land”
