I cannot believe what I'm seeing.
My friend, 1LT Weston Lee, was killed in Iraq. That kind of news hurts enough. It punches you in the gut.
He was tough, he could do really rough PT with a smile on his face. He was a good shot, even among military circles. He was a leader, he never doubted why we do what we do as Soldiers. And, if anyone did begin to doubt, he could encourage them to believe again in the Brotherhood that is the Army. He was a friend and source of encouragement to everyone who knew him. He was a man who balanced service to his country with his belief in God, and knew how to have fun as well.
To learn he didn’t die immediately in that IED attack. That he died from his wounds later. That he suffered because the medics were worried that morphine would lower his heart rate.
Myself and other friends of his don’t know where or when he will be brought home. We don’t know when we will have to bury our friend and brother.
And, to top it all off. That absolute SCUM are rejoicing over his death and politicizing it!!!
… not from the enemy, but other Americans. Everything from Far left to far right. From SJW to Politically Incorrect. I’m seeing comments from people trying to use my Friend’s death to fit their disgusting agendas.
That hurts. That hurts really bad….
That people who weren’t privileged to know him feel entitled to misuse and misrepresent him and drag his sacrifice through the dirt.
I’m so angered and appalled.
But I know it would be his wish to let those people speak, no matter how hurtful. That we, the Brotherhood of those in service to this country, honor the memory of the fallen and continue to drive on. That we carry ourselves with pride, no matter what.
I am honored I knew Weston in life. I’m glad to know I’ll meet him again one day in heaven.
Until Valhalla!
