Loyally Mated {Feysand Fic}
My first fic, I based it on a book I love, so they have the sort of the same plot. I will try to make originals without being based on others. So, tell me what you think. Even if you hate it, will make me improve. :)
Feyre was standing near the altar. Only a couple of more steps and she would be near him. Him who has only ever awful to her, she didn't want to be his loyal mate. Feyre didn't even know she was to be mated to him. Of course she knew that today every women her age was to become a loyal mate. Nonetheless no one wanted her, just because she was friends with a man from another tribe. She love her friend even though not in the way he wanted. Feyre knew Isaac loved her more than a friend, but she didn't. Every time she saw him, she only saw Isaac, her closest friend.
Now here she was, about to be mated. She pleaded her father to believe in her, to give her time, but her father wanted to be done with it. Feyre knew what they all thinking that she and Isaac had an activity where they compromised Feyre's virtue. Moreover they thought she was refusing to mate because one cannot be mated once the virtue was lost. They wanted to embarrass her, to use her an excuse, to make an statement, to prove her allegiance.
Of course Feyre didn't want to mate because of that, but because all the men here where a bunch of rats, not Cassian of course, he was a very good friend of her, who was still willing to be friends with her, even when she told him she was friends with Isaac. She hated her father because of this ridiculous, most abhorrent idea, why can't he believe her. She had no say in this, because her father was her guardian and would always be in charge of what happens in her life. However it would would all change once she was loyally mated, then her husband with be in charge of her decisions.
So here she was, pleading one more time, to let her go. She couldn't do it, if she were compromised then the mating ceremony would not work, and she wouldn't be bound to him. Yet she was not compromised and this mating ceremony will work and she will be bound forever to this lunatic, who earlier today frightened her until she ran away. Now here he was, he even volunteer to be the husband mate only to see her fail. Gods she hated him, him who was Tamlin, with his long blond blonde hair and bright green eyes, he was supposed to be beautiful with his sculpting body, however all Feyre saw was a nightmare. She turned her pleading eyes to everyone, she knew but all looked away. Feyre couldn't ask Cassian to be her loyal mate, because she knew, she knew he couldn't, Cassian didn't prefer women.
Cassian wanted to helped her, of course he did, so did the only thing he could, keep persuading his friend, his friend since they were children, Rhysand. Feyre kept looking she didn't want to be loyally mate to Rhysand either, he called her lower tribe girl. How could she mate with someone like him, he had no boundaries, and he was rich tribe boy. Nonetheless, he was friends with Cass, and well friends in a way, they where rumors Rhysand and Cass had a thing. He was a better option even though she couldn't stand him, than that trash, incarnation of evil; Tamlin.
The priest, began speaking, "Now let the ceremony begin, please hold hands my to be loyally mated."
"No, please I can't, this is a mistake." Feyre pleaded with tears in her eyes.
"This is the only way, they are rumors and those must be clarified. Now please, hold his hands it is time to begin the enchantment."
Feyre blinked away her tears, gaining her composure and when she was about to nod. Someone spoke up.
"No, she can't mate him."
Feyre looked up, to the voice.
Rhysand.
Rhysand had moved and was coming for her.
Rhysand with that beautiful dark hair, and those violet eyes, he was the embodiment of everyones nightmare, although not hers, all she saw was a dream, a savior from her real nightmare.
What was she thinking, she didn't even like the guy. All this stress was affecting her, she needed this night to be over. He didn't like her too, that was explicitly stated, then why, she couldn't help but wonder. Then it hit her like a blow, Cass, he was doing it for him, because Rhysand loves Cassian and he ask him too. There it was the explanation, and nothing to do because he cared for her.
"Why pray thee, not" the priest uttered at Rhysand.
"Because," Rhysand intonated slowly and then louder, "she promised me."
Everyone was deadly quiet, Rhysand the most powerful fighter in the tribe had just stated he was to be mated, to make it more of a shock, to her.
"Well, a promise is a promise," the priest sighed in relief. "Thank you for volunteering Mr. Tamlin Accardi. Now please Mr. Rhysand Falco step into the dais and hold Miss Feyre's hands."
Tamlin retreated with a look of disgust, thank the Gods he left and she was not to be bound to him. As Rhysand came close to her, she had another problem. She couldn't deny him, he was doing her favor, be bound to him or to that monster. They hold hands as the priest began the rite, the enchantment that will forever change her. His calloused hands rubbed hers and a spark flew through her. He looked at her and saw something in his eyes, she couldn't place it. All she wanted was to leave, she couldn't think of nothing else, he still hold her hands, as if to tell her I am here. But she couldn't, she wouldn't look at him anymore, finally the priest ended the rite and black lines form on both her arms and his. She meant to lo let go, but he held firm.
"Seal it," he told the priest.
What? no, no, no, what do you mean seal it. Not this too. Sealing it would mean, he was her husband, her mate, and would expect it to be consummated. Before it would have been just a promise to be sealed later on, like a fiancee. The priest didn't wait a second before she could protest and sealed runes where added to her arms.
When it was done, Rhysand let go but Feyre flashed anger. Her voice was low but with rage as she told him, "How could you?" Feyre took off, not waiting for an answer.
Feyre didn't care what everyone thought, now they knew, that she had her virtue, that is what they wanted, is it not, to know. Tears stained her eyes as she ran and ran through the forest until she reach the river, her favorite place.
She sat at the rock she always sat, brought her knees to her abdomen and wrapped her arms around it. She was devastated, how could this happen, why would no one believe her?? All those questions had answers, she knew those answers, but it still hurt. It was because she was friend’s with Isaac and she wasn't ashamed to tell anyone otherwise, and because her tribe had strict beliefs and she couldn't interact with other men other than the men from her tribe, it didn't help that she was a woman.
"I'm sorry, for everything that happened."
"You are not sorry Rhysand, then you wouldn't have sealed it." Feyre said with as much bite as she could mustered, as she tried to calm her tears.
"I am sorry this happened to you, but I am not sorry to seal it" he explained, "did you really wanted to be at your father's mercy, after he sold you that easily, at the last inconvenience." He came closer to her and sat next to her. "At least now, he doesn't have a say on what you do."
Feyre looked at him, assessing him. He was right, he did sale her in more rubric terms, but... No, he could of stop it, he could of believe her, she didn't want him to be near her anymore. Rhysand might of have been mean to her, she didn't know why, though she wanted to know. He was not like Tamlin who wanted to see her scream of terror, for some reason he wanted to push her away. However when Cassian ask him again at the ceremony something change and he came like a dark paladin saving his one and only star.
"I know, now I don't have to see him anymore. You did save me from being mated to a—"
"—monster." He finished for her.
He wipe the remaining tears from her cheeks, his hand where warm, even though the night was cold.
"Do you want to get out here? I have a cottage near by, we could go on horseback." Rhysand murmured as he started to get up.
"I am not sleeping with you" Feyre said boldly.
"I—" he sighed, he tried again, "I was not trying to seduce you into bed, it's dark and you might to be cold. I am your mate after all, I am taking care of you. I wouldn't make you do anything you wouldn't want to."
She looked away, a flush in her cheeks, she didn't now why. "Very well, I agree."
She stood up and followed him back into the dark forest. They didn't talk as they reach his horse. She knew how to mount and ride but she didn't have a horse of her own. So she mounted his horse and he mounted after her.
Rhysand's hand was securely grabbing her waist, while the other one was on the rein. Feyre could feel his heat radiating from him as her back touched his torso. Rhysand's hand moved on her waist as the horse kept speeding up. Feyre spared a look at him and saw in his eyes as he in a battle with himself. Halfway near the cottage according to Rhysand, it started raining. So he told her to hold on because he would go faster. She only nodded because his voice seemed enraged.
Feyre could only think that he didn't want her, he had so many mood swings that she couldn't keep up. But she knew deep in her that he was only putting up with her because of Cassian, because he wanted to be with him, not her. She was an obstacle to his happiness.
Once they arrived, he didn't even look at her and waited for her to dismount, once she did he padded the horse and left, probably to leave it at the stable.
Feyre didn't know what to do as she entered the cottage. She was angry at her father for making her to this. She was angry at everyone, wanted everyone to pay for making her suffer. Everything she did was for her family, to take care of little Elain not her father. When Rhysand entered, she yelled, "That bastard did this to me, now I am trapped, after all I did for my family, I fed them, I clothe them, I worked!"
He remained silent, his earlier hostility now vanished. She continued, "How can he be so cold and without a thought he left me." She was crying again.
And Rhysand came close to her and wrapped his arms around her. "I am here now, I wont leave you, I promise." He whispered in her ear. "Your family will be taken care off, I sent a carriage earlier to get them so they can live in my house in the city."
"I am sorry to be such a burden to you," Feyre voice was low.
"You are not, you are my mate, I would do nothing less."
She separated from his warm and said, "You are right, you helped me and I will keep you secret."
He looked as if he were about to laugh. "What secret? I don't have one."
"Oh, please don't pretend." Feyre said sniffing a bit and then smiling a little. He snorted, but she held firm, "that you and Cassian are you know... A thing... "
He only smirk at her, "Cassian is a dear friend of mine, I know he prefers men, but we are not dating in secret if that is what you mean."
"Oh." Feyre lost her voice, she was so sure. "So, you prefer women then."
"Most ardently."
There was a long pause, Feyre didn't known what to do, all her explanation of everything his ever done crumbled. Then why she thought, was he bearable and sweet and then distant and annoyed.
He broke the silence first. "You must know, I am friends with Isaac."
Everything shattered, she looked at him disbelievingly, she probably didn't hear right.
"We met at the Court, where all people from different tribes can meet and talk freely, we became quick friends, he always talked about you, in great detail. So when I first saw you, I knew who you were. I wanted to have distance between us because he's my friend and you where his. And now I mated the woman he loves."
Feyre throat became dry. She tried to clear it and said, "Isaac is my best friend, he loves me and I him." A flash of pain flashed through his eyes and quickly disappeared. "But I love him not as he does, but as family."
Something stir at him, "So, you don't love him."
"Not like he wants me too, he wants my happiness and I want him to be happy but I can't give him that."
"Umh, so, you are not dating Isaac?"
"No, I am not, and you are not dating Cassian?"
"No, I am not."
After a few seconds, "would you like eat?" he said shyly.
"Yes, I would like that very much, Rhysand." She smiled at him.
"Call me Rhys, we are mated after all, Feyre, darling." He grin at her.
