2 Week Taster - Sculpture
Personal Task - Evaluation
Small and strong.
Reminisent of the classic tales of the underdog. This was the very foundation for this singular project, although with a few twists to keep things interesting. It’s become less about the greater evil, and more about internal issues. The things that makes you feel small.
I am very happy with how the final piece turned out, because a lot of the components worked really well to express the whole meaning of the artwork; from the short height, the small frame and intricate wiring. Though it strayed quite a way from how I want to create a similar conceptual style as Duchamp’s Bicycle Wheel, never-the-less it stands on its own four feet with a strong conceptual idea.
One big issue, is that it isn’t a very structurally strong piece; I feel that it could fall over easily, due to it never being balanced enough as to stay still.
There are some very obvious changes, like getting better equipment so that cutting and putting the pieces of wood together would be a lot easier and better at measuring heights create a more balanced 3D structure. Getting better material can drastically change the look of the sculpture, it can get rid of a lot of the roughness that is in my current piece. I would also like to experiment with more conceptual ideas, because there some visual elements that makes the sculpture’s intended theme quite obvious.
