Welp, that’s Rebellion rewatched, and yeah this movie’s still just, absolutely utterly fucking incredible. Such a beautifully terrifying artistic masterwork that delves so deeply into the psyche of its main character as to be like, real fuckin profound, I love it, Homura really is just the best character ever, huh?
Now the sorta theme of this rewatch for me has pretty much just been feeling the intended emotions to a greater extreme than usual, and that’s no different here. See, Rebellion’s never actually made me cry before, except actually, for this rewatch. Only took like 26 viewings but yeah Rebellion drew tears from me. Awesome. And more specifically, the thing I was really feeling from this watch was just, how much Homura hates herself. And I mean obviously I knew she did and I knew the degree to which she did but, this watch was where I most viscerally felt that utter self loathing she harbors. God, what a poor girl.
Also a tradition for my Rebellion rewatches is noticing something new every time, which, again didn’t change here.
So we all know Homura’s little hairband, yeah? Obviously we do.
Took me until this specific Rebellion rewatch to notice that it goes all the way around her head. Fuckin, cool I guess.
Good rewatch. Madoka Magica really do be my all time favourite piece of literature huh.
