Ateez sheds tears in gratitude in first concert in Seoul

Group Ateez (Kim Hongjoong, Park Seonghwa, Jung Yunho, Kang Yeosang, Choi San, Song Mingi, Jung Wooyoung, Choi Jongho) kicked off the world tour living up to their title of "Global rookie" with the first exclusive concert in Korea.

On February 9, Ateez's concert "ATEEZ World Tour The Fellowship: Map The Treasure" was taking place at Olympic Hall, Olympic Park, Bangi Ward, Songpa District, Seoul. The show starting from February 8 attracted a total of 5000 fans.

Since debuting in October 2018, Ateez has created a unique worldview with the "Treasure" series. The group showed an adventure of youth when starting the journey across the sea to find treasures through the album series "All To Zero", "Zero To One", "One To All", "All To Action", "Action To Answer".

With the album "TREASURE EPILOGUE: Action To Answer" out on January 6, Ateez led the general album chart of iTunes in 38 countries, including Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, etc. and held No.3 on Billboard Social 50 chart, through which they have consolidated their status as "Super global rookie".

So, after getting incredible achievements abroad, Ateez met Korean fans on February 8~9. This concert is of great meaning to both Ateez and their fans as it's their first exclusive concert in Korea.

Appearing after the screen was lifted up, Ateez opened the concert with 3 songs namely "WIN", "Horizon", "Pirate King". The members wore red velvet uniforms and drove fans crazy with the first powerful rendition.

After finishing the performance, Ateez sent greetings to the fans. The group aroused fans' expectations when saying, "Until now, we have released 5 albums in the 'Treasure' series. You will be able to enjoy all of those songs at this concert."

Next, the group added, "Finally, Ateez's treasure hunt story will be completed with this album. 'Action To Answer' is the final album in the 'Treasure' series. Despite not knowing what story we will tell you in the future, but stay tuned."

Before starting the show, Ateez expressed their special determination. Song Mingi said, "We will put in the work to make Atiny (fandom) feel good becoming fans of Ateez." Then Kim Hongjoong told, "It's so meaningful to be able to meet and interact such closely with fans."

Ateez also explained the title of the world tour ''The Fellowship", "It means that a group goes on a long journey for the same goal. We think this is a very suitable phrase for the group when doing a world tour. The concept today is also the fellowship concept."

Afterward, the group continued to bring a series of spectacular stages. First, all the members stepped into the thrust stage and performed "Twilight" and "Stay". Ateez had a chance to freely interact with fans with such close distance.

" Unlike the strong opening, the stages of ""My Way"" and ""Light"" bring out the youthful and lovely charm of rookie idols. In particular, during the ""Light"" performance, Ateez held the decorative sticks in the shapes of hearts, stars, umbrellas and went to the stage closest to the audience's seats. The members created various expressions towards the camera connected to the VCR."

The stage of "Mist" was striking with its effect. The VCR behind Ateez filled with fog and purple light glowing to every corner of the stage made it feel more dreamy. Fans' lightsticks were also shifted to purple.

Opening with spectacular choreography, "Desire" helped the audience admire Ateez's charm. The boys spread their "lethal" charm on the red stage. Kim Hongjoong's intense rap and Choi Jongho's powerful vocal also captivated the concertgoers.

After changing into white suits, Ateez went on to deliver such songs as ''ILLUSION'', 'WAVE'', ''Sunrise''. In ''WAVE'' rendition, fans were able to admire an impressive scene with a stage effect reminiscent of waves. Fans also performed an ''explosive'' fan chant that filled up the concert venue.

After performing 3 songs in a row, Ateez spent time interacting with fans. Kang Yeosang laughed happily while sharing, "I had a good look at all of Atiny friends." Meanwhile, Choi San said, "Yesterday or today, the scene of Lightiny Bongs (the name of cheering stick) gathering always looks beautiful."

Ateez also took the time to personally give gifts to fans, who are like gifts to the group. The boys suddenly appeared on stage again and performed the song "If Without You". Ateez threw balls in the gift basket to the stand and fans stood up to catch the presents from the members. Subsequently, they delivered the songs "AURORA" and "UTOPIA".

The performances that worthy of Ateez's "global performance Idol" title were also prepared. Beginning with the song "Say My Name", Kim Hongjoong appeared on the 2nd-floor stage while holding a megaphone. The other members also came out in black suits with gold chains. The group continually performed non-stop choreography with the songs "Dazzling Light", "HALA HALA", etc., which pushed the heat of the concert to the climax.

The show was soon coming to an end with the 2 last songs "Treasure+precious" and "WONDERLAND". Although those were the final stages, Ateez still delivered the best performances with unbelievably dynamic energy and showed no signs of cooling off.

The fans' encore stage requests resounded as the boys left the stage after the last performance. Starting from the left corner, the call gradually spread throughout the stands. After all the fans called "Ateez" for a long time, a prepared encore VCR began playing.​

Even when the video had ended, Ateez came back out and belted out "Answer". When Song Mingi said, "Let's go to the end of life together", the fans unanimously shouted their response "Yes".

Kim Hongjoong once again mentioned the title of the world tour, "Fellowship", which also carries the meaning of camaraderie. He then showed his affection for fans, "Our group has been accompanying you for 450 days. But to me, this period is longer than those 450 days.​

After that, Ateez performed the encore songs "THANK U", "Star 1117", "Promise", and "Dancing like Butterfly Wings", and completed the stages they had prepared.

At the end of the concert, the members shed tears of appreciation while sharing their thoughts after concluding their 2-day show. Song Mingi opened up, "Though there was a time of exhaustion, this is the most meaningful and happiest time of my life. If there weren't the power and trust that the members place in me, I would never have stood here today. And I believe that Atiny fans are those who have repaid that trust. Thank you for turning trust into confidence. I will always love you."

Jung Wooyoung shared, "Thank you all for coming here today. Hopefully, you guys have created happy and unforgettable memories. The concert in Seoul has finally ended. I feel happy, regretful and sad at the same time. We worked hard to perform at our utmost without thinking anything about tomorrow. Thank you, fans, for fulfilling our shortcomings. Thank you, the 8 members, for being together. Thank you very much and I hope we will continue to receive your support in the future. Above all, thank you for helping me become the 8th piece of Ateez. We will always be hardworking for you guys."

Kim Hongjoong thanked the fans, "In the past when we went to see our seniors' concerts, we used to talk about what feelings we would perform with if we had a chance to hold a concert in the future. Since then, we have been practicing harder. When I was able to stand on the stage, I realized that performing the group's 24 songs was greater and happier than we thought. Perhaps, I will never forget this moment. We have practiced since last winter and counted down to the days of the concert. During that time, there were times when we were fatigued and exhausted, but we got more strength only by seeing the fans coming to the show."​

Starting with the concert in Seoul, Ateez will go on conducting the world tour in Europe, Japan, and the US.
