Just wanted to share this, since I haven’t seen it on Tumblr...

Disclaimer: this is all fake, product of my imagination, don’t take it seriously. 

This is a cut with dd’s moments in episode 8 of a special edition of TTXS (roughly “Day Day on the Cloud”), aired during quarantine. The theme of this episode was St. Valentine’s Day.

(I’m sorry, I don’t have video editing skills and I couldn’t find it with subtitles).

There isn’t too many people commenting on this, even in China, so I suspect there’s something going on that I’m not aware of (hence the cut), but there were 2 noteworthy moments that I bring here. 

The first one is from minute 08:51:

The host, SMC, was asking them to complete the phrase, “The next time we see each other, I’ll...”. Carrying on with a previous joke, dd answered “bring a power bank”. 

SMC (laughing): “So a power bank is the most important thing to you? Even more important than your motorcycle?” 

DD (laughing): “It’s not that. But even if I gave her a motorcycle, she wouldn’t know how to ride it!” (minute 09:00 aproximately).

It’s curious that in here, the production team chose “her/she” as the pronouns in the subtitles (that’s why I went with feminine too), even though she and he (他/她) are homophones in Chinese, are therefore dd could have been talking about either a man or a woman. There isn’t a gender neutral pronoun, so they chose to make it look as if he was talking about a girl. 

However, that arm movement as he speaks, as if he was pointing to someone sitting behind the monitor, made some people think that the one he was talking about was sitting right there. Someone who doesn’t know how to ride a bike, much less a motorcycle. 

The second moment it’s from 09:52:

The next phrase they had to fill was: “I can’t give you the world, but I can give you...”

Dd was asked to repeat a phrase by QF (I can’t give you the world, but I can give you my world), to compare the effect they cause with the same phrase. People have noticed that after dd says this phrase, his eyes flicker to the same spot he was pointing to before, but the camera doesn’t stop for long. 

And just to complete the picture, dd kept looking at his left and smiling throughout the episode.
