August? :)

Ahhh August was great! I went to Yestival right at the beginning of August and I saw Carl Palmer and then I got to meet Carl and then we sat front row for the Yes concert and that was the most amazing experience ever it was just so much fun to be at the front and I could see everything and the balloons and confetti was in front of us and I'm 99% sure Chris Squire met my eyes a dozen times that night and then afterwards I got a picture with Yes ahh it was just so great!

….suddenly my entire life has fallen out of my head…April

I went to the Museum of Natural History in New York City for the first time, and holy crap dinosaurs were huge!

I spent more time in the ocean in that one month, than I have in the past ten years combined. And I loved absolutely every second of it. :)

2013 in Further Review

Okay, before this Tumblr goes to an all (or at least, mostly) image format, some final text. This year was seriously the best. If 2014 is half as great, I'll be thrilled.

Milestones:

- I started a Tumblr! Happy First Birthday, Jenhedonia.

- I got a new job. This was at the top of my list of goals for 2013 and I achieved it in June. Props to friends Sam and Sasha who also saw the job posting and encouraged me to apply.

- I got a smart phone. If you asked me about this on January 1st I would've been terrified by this, but by late-October I had come to terms that this was happening, and it happened. On Christmas morning I sat at my grandmother's kitchen table while she read her delivered Home News Tribune and I read The New York Times on my phone. So, yeah.

- I got on a plane. The trip was all my idea so I can't even say anyone talked me into it.

- I got a tattoo. I already forget that I have it.

People Who I Love, Who I Also Saw and/or Met:

- Alex Karpovsky

- George Saunders (he liked my glasses!)

- Tony La Russa

- Christopher Guest

- William Eggleston

- Donna Tartt

- Jason Diamond (he liked my shirt! which was actually a dress but I was standing behind a counter, so it's not his fault)

- Andy Greenwald (so short!)

Other random things:

- Dinner at The Russian Tea Room with my sister.

- Photos from Waqas's Edison/Pakistan project, which I even got around to framing before the end of the year!

- Trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

- Trip to Dia:Beacon.

- Volunteering for MLB FanFest.

- Free Dismemberment Plan show.

- I made great sacrifices in order to obtain a Mariano Rivera bobblehead. The wounds have nearly healed.

- I opened a Twitter account which I find myself rarely using now that baseball season is over. Though my conversation with Jonah Keri made it all worthwhile.

- US Open. My days in Flushing didn't include my favorites (Murray, Federer, and now Fish and Roddick are gone) but still worth mentioning.

things this year has taught me:

go to all the gigs

yes. you must walk up the hill in the snow with your flatmate. even when your shoes are not prepared

london. london is a good place. we like london

amsterdam is also kinda cool

but don't take the bus

sometimes quitting is okay

T in the Park is a wonderful thing

you can never see a band too many times

fringes are fab

fairy lights improve things greatly

drink the gin

any opportunity to dress up must not be taken for granted

monopoly is fun. even more so with gin

disney movie soundtracks

draw. paint etc. a lot

christmas. fabmas

red hair will make you feel more awesome

although leather jackets don't actually improve your life. they do help with feeling a bit more rad

always agree to a photoshoot in the bath with your favourite people

i may be a shit person but look at all the wonderful things i learnt that happened anyway
