While 2014 may have finally shuffled aside to make room for 2015, we’re not quite done with it here at By Gawd. Our first podcast of 2015 is the first part of our 2014 awards show, an episode that was so long it had to be split into two episodes. By Gawd! Awards 2014 - Part One

Welcome to the first part of the breakdown of our awards for 2014! This post accompanies part one of our awards podcast, and gives an overview of our methodology, the categories we discussed and, most importantly, the nominees and winners. If that sounds like something you want to read then carry on, if not then head over to the podcast and listen to us decide the list.

The rules for our awards are relatively simple. Every category has five nominees, from which we pick two runners up and a winner. We all have to agree on the picks, or at least not argue against them.

How do we decide on this list of nominees you ask? Well, Peter, Colin and I each got five picks for each category, which we then had to convert into the final list. If we agreed on a nominee then easy, it went on the list. If we didn’t then a little bit of negotiation had to take place to condense everything down to five picks. Occasionally someone would get a spot as an honourable mention, but wouldn’t quite make the final cut.

So, now that you know how we picked the winners, it’s time to get onto the winners themselves.
