just ordered my heirloom, non-hybridized, non-GMO seeds for this year's garden. I'm just brimming with excitement! So many tasty healthy foods this harvest and so much work to be done! I'm out for the day. I'm gonna raise the beds a few inches, try to repair the vineyard, get some topsoil, peat moss, and sand. Then I've gotta put together some blueprints for the greenhouse my fiance says he'll build (I start my earlies indoors and there's never enough room) and just looking over what I have and what I'm going to need for this year. What a gentle winter to usher in the spring!
Also, I have to relocate my herb garden to a new location. I ordered all sorts of herbs and medicinal plants. I'm gonna need all the experience I can get making salves, oils, poultices, and decoctions this year. Good year to be an herbalist in training.

Seed ordering and garden plans
It's very annoying that kale is so popular because even seed prices are high this year. Can another vegetable be popular this year instead?
I want to grow a large section of different types of kale because I love to eat it and because it's cold hardy but also because it's really beautiful when it's all nice and grown up.
Also, on Friday I pulled out my seed catalogues - I'm still expecting a few more in the mail - and did my supply and seed ordering for this year. Oh the fun I had! I loveeee ordering seeds and supplies. I think I'm all set for 2015. I just have to build some beds and get the soil mix. But that's the easy part. Any other seeds I order will just be extra little add ons. I ordered quite a few flower seeds this year, I want to establish a perennial flower and herb garden somewhere on the property for aesthetics but also to attract pollinators. So I did some research and ordered a few varieties that apparently attract bees and butterflies. I also ordered a few that I just liked the look of. So I'm very excited to plant those :)
I aso pre-ordered a set of berry plants for the backyard near the fence. I'll be planting strawberries, raspberries and blueberries and hopefully they'll survive and give us some yummy treats.
And closer to the spring I'll be ordering a Canadian Persimmon tree for the corner of the yard. Very exciting! :)
