Why summer festivals are the best
Camping is probably my favorite activity ever. I do it year-round, but it’s definitely the most fun in the summertime. It’s also super-appropriate for a festival. Why would I want to spend the whole day making friends and feeling free, only to go sleep in a hotel, or worse, stay with my grandma in Rehoboth Beach? Festival camping is like living in a little funtimetown, where your new friends are only a couple tents away and you can come and go as you please.
In my opinion, the best part of anything is sunshine. If there’s no sunshine involved, whatever we’re doing isn’t an awesome thing. Everyone is tan and happy, getting hyped up on Vitamin D. Summer just does that to people, gets them feeling all happy and free like a freaking breeze. I’m so looking forward to running around in the sun, listening to my favorite artists and not worrying about a thing.
This point is short and sweet: when it’s hot and I’m trying to dance, there’s nothing better than a sundress and sneakers. I wish my whole life could be lived in sundresses and sneakers.
When everyone is together at a festival, it’s such an in-the-moment experience—even if it’s a four-day-long in-the-moment experience. Nobody is worrying about work or chores. Everyone is open to making new friends, trying new things, and being together. It’s honestly magical. If people carried around their festival attitudes in their day-to-day lives, the world would be a very different place.
I can’t wait for summer to come, and I’m beyond glad to be kicking it off at Firefly Music Festival.
