I don’t like to reblog very much but, I wanted to re-share my favorite and proudest piece of this year. Now that I’ve finished the MA program for Visual Development, I wanted to look back and appreciate the progress I’ve made and the amazing journey of learning ahead!
Giving up, is bad luck!
As we tumble towards the end of 2017, we’re enjoying looking back over some of the fantastic moments we’ve had this year at the National Centre for Circus Arts.
These include circus casting for the Vivienne Westwood fashion show, the #30DayCircusChallenge, a spooky Harry Potter Halloween with the London Youth Circus at King's Cross, the student photoshoot with Bertil Nilsson, and hosting the National Youth Circus Event #NYCE2017.
We welcomed audiences for 'Impulse', the Second Year Ensemble directed by Ockham's Razor; 'DEPART', the BA Ensemble with Circa Contemporary Circus and LIFT Festival; and ‘Ghosts’, the BA Devised Pieces show.
Graduate successes include a Guinness World Record for Alula Cyr, LJ Marles winning the Silver Star at International Circus Festival YOUNG STAGE Basel, and LJ and Korri Aulakh winning prizes at Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain, Paris.
Thank you for joining us; it’s been #AnACE2017.
2017 highlights
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! It’s 2018 you guys! Can you believe it?!
I didn’t do a highlight post for 2016. But since work is slow, I will go ahead and make one for 2017 lol. So here it goes! In no particular order, these are the top highlights of my 2017.
Moved to a new home in Westminster – Although it was sad to leave the home that we resided in for the past 10 years, it was time for us to move. The owners were terrible landlords! They never fixed anything and always expected us to deal with mice running around. Thank Buddha that we left! I can’t stand the thought of my family having to live in such horrid conditions.
Completed my MPH program J So now it’s Lilly Nguyen, MPH at the end of my name lol. I’m very proud of myself for completing my master’s program at UCLA. Though I still think it wasn’t that great of a program, it got me to where I am today! So everything happens for a reason, right?
Visited Vietnam for the first time – I will never forget meeting all my family members and falling absolutely in love with each and every one of them. I loved everything about Vietnam! And couldn’t believe it took me 20 somethings years to go check it out.
My first REAL job right after school! – Getting the email letting me know that I got the analyst position at SF City and County!!!! My fears of being jobless with ample student loans put me in such a negative mood around Feb-March. It wasn’t until my friend pushed me to apply for this job even though I doubted myself. Long behold, I’m here right now.
Visited Paris and Brussels – My third international trip! How I missed those flaky croissants and delicious duck breast everything. Everything is much more beautiful than what I had learned/remembered from Art History class.
Moved to SF – I’ve always moved away, took little “vacations” knowing that eventually I’ll be back home. But this time it was different because I was moving for my career. Knowing that, it was so hard for me to welcome this new start of my life. I was resistant in every way when I first moved to the city. But am glad to say that I’m finally able to call it ‘home.’
With that being said, may 2018 be nothing but good to us all! (:
My heart is filled with joy!!!! I was so scared and shy and excited to meet Will and his girlfriend, Jenny, but I’m really glad I did!! thank God I had enough courage, thank God for my friend Yvette for accompanying me tonight; she made everything easier for me…moral support and all. It also helped a lot that they were so easy to talk to!! It really isn't impossible to meet up people from the internet. I'm looking forward to more now. Meeting people and somewhat clicking with them? It's what gives energy to my soul. To Jen and Will, thank you for being you. Until next time xx
