Almost a year after his final “Hamilton” performance, Daveed Diggs is enjoying his successful transition to the screen.

“It’s very new for me,” the 35-year-old actor told Page Six on Wednesday at the Turner Upfront presentation, “I’m trying to do as much new as I can, but I’m excited to get back into theater and do plays. I miss doing a straight play.”

Diggs, who won a Tony for playing Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, added, “I don’t need to do another musical for awhile.”

[...] On top of all that, Diggs is set to guest-star in the third season of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” The role of Perry, a love interest of Kimmy’s, was written especially for him.“I sat down with Tina [Fey] and Robert [Carlock] one day and we just hung out,” he told us, “They came back a few months later and were like, ‘Here’s this part, are you interested?’ I read it and was like, ‘Absolutely!'” [x]
