SYNTHETIC BLOOD TRIAL ON 2017

           Scientific innovations have gone too far these days that it seems like all the matter in this world and the creatures in it will soon become modified, manufactured, and technologically manipulated. The striking news from the health field gave the people the sense of fictional and movie-like feelings. Laboratory-produced blood will be tested to healthy volunteers by 2017.The ‘blood’ is made from either of the stem cells from adults or the umbilical cord blood of newborns which is isolated trigger their development into mature red blood cells. The reason for this breakthrough must be for the supplication of blood transfusion to patients with complex illness, and for the reduction of blood packs donated by people in drastic situations.

           According to the researchers of this healthcare improvisation, the key aim of the project is to create blood that is a better match for patients with rare blood types and conditions that typically need frequent donor blood transfusions. The core of this project is to help lessen the complexity time would bring when the patient is needing frequent blood packs for transfusion especially in cases like sickle cell anemia and thalassemia. This idea also came up when the NHS is trying to build capacity for the treatment of patients in need of blood and organ donations. The number of new blood donor, in the place of Canada alone, was recorded last year as being 40 percent lower than what it was 10 years ago.If we look into its advantages, a lot of people would be benefitted with this project since it would help build the doctors their bridge into curing rare and sickly illnesses by the help of this high-technology innovation. But when we talk about the cons, religious sectors like Jehovah’s Witnesses, would really be against to this scientific breakthrough because of their belief in regards with blood transfusions.
