What are these peoples' problems?? Do they literally just search for things to be upset about? Your content for pride was supposed to be positive! If they didn't like it, they could have just unfollowed/moved on? It's not that big of a deal?? I highly doubt there are just mounds of people lining up who are going to be upset about that stuff. Everything is so serious and blown out of proportion these days. -_-" (And I also agree that the Foundation should/does have an age limit.)
Supposedly there is a group of LGBT SCP fans who don’t like seeing a “militaristic” portrayal of their identities. I tried to reason with them but I’m too tired at this point. Overall, you’re right. I really need to stop trying to meet in the middle with people who behave ridiculously, because it just makes me look like an inconsistent pushover.
I’m trans, I’m the model in the trans poster, I wrote the character I’m playing in it, and my Foundation is an LGBT-inclusive bureaucracy who will sure as hell jump on ad campaign trains when Broken Masquerade rolls around but they’re not evil and they’re barely even militaristic except in some branches. That’s all there is to those posters.
If people can’t relate, well, you really don’t have to, folks. Your Foundation can be evil if you want, it’s your canon. But in the posters, well, that’s not your character. That’s not your face in the picture. That’s not your written dialogue in the quote. You may be trans, but I am also trans, and we are allowed to have differing opinions on content and how we represent ourselves as trans people. I am allowed to feel different than you about being trans. No one is forcing you to let me make a Foundation pride ad for yourself or your character, but I wanted one for mine, because my Foundation isn’t evil like yours and I’ve been looking forward to doing those for weeks.
There are three more posters on the way, for bi, ace, and rainbow/queer love in general. I’m gonna make them, because the majority of LGBT+ people who have seen them like them. The minority that thinks there’s an ethical issue in them has every right to feel that way, and they don’t have to support the content, just like you said. But when the content is making most people including the creator feel good about LGBT+ SCP content, of course I’m going to keep making it. Most people want it and support it, so it wouldn’t make sense to stop because a select few people have some weirdly specific opinions about what this fictional content represents in the real world.
This has been the most unexpectedly anxiety-inducing intro to pride month I could have gotten, and the aforementioned vocal minority can rest assured knowing that they have successfully “made me think about the impact of my actions”, as they’ve made me realize that even some posters for a canon are worth inbox-spamming and multiple wall-of-text reblogs from people who don’t find it to their personal tastes. I have to go to work today, and the idea of coming home to more of this shit makes my stomach knot, so this will be my last post on the topic (until I make more posters and we handle them like normal internet users). Please do not send any more asks about this (even positive ones) because I know my mental health well enough to know that this particular topic, and the ties to my identity involved with it, are more uniquely offensive than expected so I’m very done.
