Maybe im overanalysing but...

So we all know that one SUPER bittersweet moment from Cars 2 where we learn Doc died and the trophy Lightning won is in honor of him

Lightning looks over at the posters with a sad little face

But that moment Mater tells Lightning that Doc would have been proud of him, Lightning puts on a pursed smile.

You can kinda see his lower lip but hes sucking in his lips. You know that thing people do when they move their lips inwards but still smile. Thats what Lightning's doing here

I love the the Cars movies focusing on how much Lightning has changed as a person throughout the movies and the growth he's going through. I would honestly love to know how Lightning handled Doc's death. At the end of Cars, Lightning cared so much about Doc he checked in the ditch, calling out his name in worry at the moment Doc had driven in the ditch (just to yeet out of it a second later)

Lightning obviously respected Doc so much, i must have been hard for him to let go :(
