What the barking Peck?

This albino version of an Asian barking deer, Fea's muntjac (Muntiacus feae), are among the rarest animals of the rarest deer-species in the world.  

Peck the barking deer was originally gifted to Bangkok Zoo by Queen Sirikit, the current kings mother. It was gifted to her as a present during one of her travels. 

Prominence

Being super-rare also means prominence in all phases of life. Two years after the closing of the Dusit zoo in Bangkok, Peck is mention in the absurd circumstances of a shooting and a following criminal investigation.  

I would say Peck was mostly super-shy, but also a super poser.

Two gentlemen in Havana The El Caballero de Paris, the gentleman from Paris, is a statue of a man living the last years of his life on the streets of Habana. He got famous in the 1950s, when the republic deteriorated into a military dictatorship before the revolution. José Maria López Lledín (1920s-1977) had a mental breakdown after being arrested and sent to prison. Mr. Lledin denied the allegations for the rest of his life. He walked the streets cloaked in heavy black clothes carrying a suitcase filled with papers of "proof". The other gentleman could not articulate his story to me when asked. But he was friendly enough. The statue was made by Jose Villa Soberón in 2001. Habana streetlife, framed The architecture in Havana are the heritage of 500 years of being a crossroad harbour city, centrally located between Americas, Africa and Europe. The result is the mixed influence of Europeans, immigrants and native Americans, slavers and slaves, fortune seekers and pirates. The archways are a shelter against sun and rain, and they are most often of spanish or french origin. Spain as the colonial occupant for nearly 400 years, french after slave revolts in Haiti sent the slavers to Cuba in the 1700s. Town of great rides Very typical Cuba in this alleyway in Trinidad. That is classic US car from the pre-60s, and East European motorbikes pre-90s. Most moto's are of German or Russian brand. I didn't see any Japanese or US brands at all. Like the cars, the motos are well maintained, with a good portion of tlc. Trying not to reveal his secret identity I have no idea if this is James Bond posing as Superman, or the other way around. It is not really important, either. The children, like the grown ups, uses the streets of Havana as a living room. That means they are playing around, and rather comfortable with strangers, as there always is a familiar adult keeping an eye. And presumably there are some tourists during season, too. They also love posing for photographs! I try to avoid sharing fresh photos of recognizable children in SoMe, because they need some privacy (...) and they or their guardians should have a say. There is also a lot of weirdos using these services as well. No sudden standing up, please! The streets are alive with the sounds of people playing. Using the alleyways, aleys and streets of the city as a social arena for playing, sport, dancing and gaming is very cuban. The board games are typical for the gentlemen over a certain age and disposition, sharing a table put on their knees, laughing, arguing and often cigar smoking. They are most often playing cuban domino, a competitive game with 54 bricks and 2 persons at a team playing one other duo.
