I’ve seen multiple instances of someone trying to shoehorn the “Mayan End of the World” after 2012 to make it seem still relevant, but I feel like one of the funniest ones has to be when posts started circulating about how the calendar is set 8 years later than what it should be, so 2020 was actually 2012, meaning that the Mayans were right.
Now, why is it funny? Because the reason why this post exists is that, according to the Ethiopian calendar, 2020 corresponded to 2012-13, which means that the whole “2020 is actually 2012″ would only make sense if you use that calendar. This implies that, somehow, the Mayans knew about the Ethiopians so well that they based their own calendar around them, and I feel like trying to figure out and explain how would that work is much funnier than making conspiracy theories about the end of the World.
