Unlike all too many structures called "historic" merely because they are somewhat old, George Washington was instrumental in the construction of this building, and one of the first legal proceedings in it was the settling of his estate. Alas Washington did not live long enough to see the completed building.

Tower and Dome, St. Michael the Archangel Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Sitka, Alaska, 2025.

The original church was destroyed by fire, and the church is a recent construction based on the design from the era when Sitka was the capital of Russian Alaska.
