“We need you” -Akaashi
the text read and you didn’t hesitate to run from your own softball match. It was the end anyway, at the end of this inning we will be the winners.
“cover for me?” You ask to your best friend/captain and she laughs
“y/n its the bottom of the 9th and” a crack of ball against wooden bat and the whoosh as its gone has us both stopping and cheering for our team, Tsu just got another home run,
“go, we won’t need you to pitch again” she finishes with a smile and you laugh and nod, thanking her before slipping out of the dugout, running off towards to volleyball gym.
“Two minutes left in the time out” Akaashi says as you make your way to their side of the net, cleats left outside the school door, you’re tiptoeing quickly and trying not to slide over the floor in your socks.
“There’s my handsome Captain” you say as you place a hand on his shoulder, rubbing softly as you crouch in front of where he was sitting on the bench. You smile warmly and he’s trying to hold back the smile that always tugs on his lips when he sees you. He couldn’t help it, you always made him feel safe and like he could accomplish anything.
“You didn’t have to come” he says softly without meeting your eye and you laugh gently “you’re my number one Kou, I’ll always come for you”
Akaashi says your name and you know you have one minute left so you cup his cheek and meet his eye
“Bokuto Koutoro, you are a kick ass, bad ass, amazing volleyball player. I believe in you, your team believes in you”
you put a finger on your ear “and do you hear that cheering?”
You pause for a moment watching as his eyes begin to brighten and sparkle again with the cheers of his name
“all of your fans believe in you! Now go show that other team why that is!”
His knees start to bounce and his face brightens as a grin finds his lips and takes over his whole demeanor.
“Thank you!” he says, energy rekindled, and leans forward, capturing your lips in his own as the whistle blows and signals the end of time out.
Akaashi mouths thank you and you nod once, your cheeks warm and heart full as you get out of the way and up to the stands to watch the rest of his game.
You’re the first to jump into his arms after they win, cheering and kissing across his sweaty face.
“I’m so proud of you!!” You yell as he spins you around.
“Thank you!” Akaashi shouts and pats your shoulder, sending Bo a look when he laughs jovially
Your cheeks are warm and your chest is full of butterflies and energy
“I’m happy to help” you say and Bokuto hugs you tighter
“I love you” he says warmly and you feel your heart tingle “I love you too” you respond and kiss his cheek, his sweat soaking his clothes and you’re beginning to feel it start to cling to you
“Go, stinky, shower. I’ll meet up with you soon! We will all go out to celebrate” he grins and nods enthusiastically before pulling you in for a hard kiss before you push him off towards the showers with a laugh.
