Since it didn't happen if it's not on social media, here is the evidence of me getting up at 5:03 this morning (sunrise) and managing to find a decent view of the eastern horizon. For a while it looked like the low clouds were going to be too thick, but as the Sun lifted higher, its crescent shape became apparent. The clouds helped dim the disk so it wasn't overpowering and could be seen without protection. Behold, the 2021 annular solar eclipse, seen from Boston at 80% occlusion. Maximum coverage was at 5:33, picture no 2. I threw in a few more just for funsies. Amazingly enough, the iPhone camera came through, probably because it had plenty of light to work with. I hope those folks who traveled to Siberia and north-central Canada had great weather for the path of annularity! #2021eclipse #annularsolareclipse #crescentsun #iphoneastrophotography #notbad #helpfulclouds https://www.instagram.com/p/CP74lpXFQYe/?utm_medium=tumblr
