Before, I Could Draw launches tomorrow night on Friday November 29th and runs until 7th December at 2022NQ, Dale Street in Manchester's Northern Quarter.
"Find a childhood drawing, re-interpret it today."
That was the challenge set out to illustrators, and the basis for the group exhibition Before, I Could Draw. The results are inventive and diverse, showcasing the best qualities of each artist's style and epitomising the show's theme, which is to demonstrate how hard work, training and the passing years can change an image.
In addition to the obvious curiosity about how a current crop of professional artists have evolved their process and style, Before, I Could Draw is concerned with encouraging young artists to continue drawing by showing how practice and experience can shape their talent. The originals displayed were created at a variety of ages, from 5 to 13, and can act as a development timeline in a general sense.
