I'm on the couch with my youngest sister. She is watching something on her laptop while crocheting and I'm completing my language lessons. Suddenly she starts coughing - violently.

I look at her in concern, and then she stops, says "Okay?" in a resigned-sort-of way.

Then the coughing starts again. With her holding her hand in front of her mouth, I'm almost worried she's going to throw up when something does come out. I'm expecting something like phlegm, but no.

She spits out - I kid you not - a stitch marker. A plastic sort of safety pin that she'd been holding between her lips while finishing a row and, apparently, sucked in.

Thankfully it was closed.
