Sonam Wangchuk is on a hunger strike. Who is he? He is our great scientist and education reformist, a man who has dedicated his life to bettering our country . He's the inspiration behind the iconic character in the movie Three Idiots, and his work has even earned him the Ramon Magsaysay Award, often called Asia's Nobel Prize . He is a true gem of India.

And why is he on this hunger strike? FOR US. For our education system. For the countless students whose futures are being destroyed. He is protesting the horrific deaths that happened after the NEET paper leak, where students who had worked their entire lives for a dream took their own lives when their results were cancelled due to the government's failure . He is standing up against a system that plays with the lives of millions . He is demanding accountability, demanding the resignation of the Education Minister, and demanding that the government stop treating the future of our youth as a joke.

So, i humble request ya'll, if you are in Delhi or you know someone who is in Delhi, please ask them to take out some time and join the protest at Jantar Mantar .Even an hour of support can make a difference. And if not, then please spread awareness on every social media about this and join the online protest. Post about it, use the hashtags, talk to your friends and family . Because at this time, even 1% matters, cus if Sonam sir can give his 100%,risking his life,then why can't we?.

And if you are ignoring this instead of spreading awareness, then sorry not sorry, you are useless af. This is not just his fight,it is the fight for every student, for the future of our nation. We cannot sit back and do nothing while a man is dying for our cause.

I was a neet victim, my peers are neet victims, I've gone through countless sleepless nights just to crack one exam. so I've lived this horror and many are still fighting. where education should be a right for me felt like a never ending war. sometimes it felt easier to give up on life rather than fighting for basic rights. cos at a point it felt useless, no matter how hard you try you'd fail. I've always thought that someday someone will come forward and speak for us.

and Sonam Wangchuk sir did.

but are we, the 'victims' supporting him? while he's fighting literally till his last breath.

what's breaking my heart more is seeing people question his integrity, how could you still need convincing???? how can you live guilt free while someone is starving to death for your benefit??

Is the country really a democracy if the government is perfectly fine with letting people be starved to death just so that they dont have to take accountability for their mistakes

They dont take accountability for their infrastructure, their fucking useless legal system, the social issues present here, the poverty, the inequality and the corrupt system and yet people still worship them

They dont care about you, they dont care about the people, they dont care about the country, they dont care about the constitution and they dont care about one of the most renowned scientists dying because of their silence

Yet the people are busy fighting each other instead of looking at the common enemy

sonam wangchuk literally went on a hunger strike because apparently asking for basic democratic accountability now requires starving yourself. think about how absurd that is. the whole point of a nonviolent protest is that it appeals to the conscience of the public, who then pressure the government to act. but if the audience shrugs, the government learns the exact opposite lesson: that it can simply wait for people to get tired, weak, or disappear from the headlines.

this is how states manufacture radicalisation. when every peaceful avenue is ignored, people eventually stop believing peace works. no one is born convinced that confrontation is the only language power understands. they're taught that lesson by administrations that treat fasting, marching, petitions, and dialogue as background noise. if indians refuse to put sustained political pressure on governments when people choose nonviolent resistance, don't act shocked when future movements conclude that peaceful protest achieves nothing. that's not because violence is justified. it's because you've systematically devalued every alternative.

So, this is something unrelated to my posts. I come from India and there is this protest going on regarding The resignation of our Education Minister due to a major leak in Competitive Exam for medical exam. This caused a huge ruckus over the past few months along with several students took their lives too. I want to bring everyone's attention that due to such discrepancy and lack of accountability of the government, us students are suffering, hence the protest. Among these people out for protest, there is a very renowned Engineer from our place who is a part of this protest as well as in a hunger strike, this is his 16th day. His name is Sonam Wangchuk. Sir's health is deteriorating as the day is passing by. Yet there is no response from the government. We as students don't want to lose such eminent person and since I am not on any social media other than Tumblr, it is my humble request to reblog and share this as much as you can. It doesnt matter if we can't be there physically for the protest, we can raise our voice through social platform.

'But i have completed my education why should i care about that now ?? ' yes but what about your future kids hell! what about the future generations??? 22 students have already lost their life, someone you know could be next. think about the seriousness of the situation.

If you are old enough to be on social media you are old enough to raise your voice and have an opinion. 'I cant join the protest i live far away' thats fine too instead you can spread the message amongst your peers and family educated the people who have no idea and so on.

Sonam wangchuk and 3 other students are risking their life for the youth, the youth can atleast help in spreading awareness. An important figure has not eaten for 19 days yet the government remains silent. Think hard about where your support lies your actions today determine tomorrows fate.

Ok i need to actually talk about this because i am LOSING it.

It has been more than 18 days. EIGHTEEN. a man is STARVING HIMSELF at jantar mantar because the government won't even bother firing an education minister who let millions of students get failed by a leaked exam paper. and the response from the people in power?? Nothing. Silence. Business as usual.

Do these ministers even see this?? do they get it?? there's literally a court case right now because doctors are worried he might not survive this and they had to ask a judge to force the government to step in. people are giving him medical checkups every single day just so he doesn't die on live camera and this is somehow not urgent enough for anyone to just to do something.

Is THIS the india we were supposed to have?? is this what independence was for, so a man has to put his own life on the line just to get someone to LISTEN?? he's doing this for us. for students. for anyone who's ever gotten screwed over by a system that doesn't care. And they're letting him waste away like it's nothing.

He should NOT have to die for this. this is not okay. this is not normal. this should not be normal.

I'm m a med student and every part of me wants to go sit there with him rn but i can't leave without my parents' say so. if you CAN go, please go. stand there. be loud. don't let this get swept under the rug like everything else does.
