Before Wayne Manor, Jason used to have nightmares. He’d dream about old clients, both regulars and one-offs; all the degradation and abuse he’d suffered at their hands. Ever since he started living in the manor—since becoming Robin—Jason has rarely had those dreams.
Still—occasionally—when times are bad, when old habits get the better of him, when the expectations of the job become suffocating, or tensions arise, or even just when regular spells of self-doubt invade his mind, the nightmares come back with a vengeance. Like an old, forgotten client grinning, saying, Do you really think you can escape your past? You might look and act like Robin, but you’ll never be Robin.
He’s never told anyone about those dreams, not even Dick. Some things even Batman can’t know. But when Jason nearly kills himself trying to save some kids from a collapsed building, he wonders if Dick has known all along.
