what did I think of the project? 

well to be honest, I did not do it week by wekk like we were supposed to do it but I still enjoyed the tasks. I was already familiar with some of the things but did learn some new stuff along the way. It was interesting to read the blogs from the other participants as well.  and I reactivated my tumblr from a few years back so I think that counts as a sucess?

Thing 22

I decided to do hour of code in the choices listed in learning through games. I ended up coding a dance party between bears and cats while they did the floss? I think that this sort of game is really quite good as code can be fairly daunting when you first get into it. The bright colours and simple graphics mean that understanding how code is set up is made much easier and thus made me want to do more rather than running away screaming like my hair was on fire. 

Plus, I think that this sort of thing is very useful as it does relate to whomever is trying to use it and learn about it, so they find themselves in the project and thus can relate to each other. As well, in terms of games being a style of learning, I think it’s a good one, because you can fit more information in and worry less about whether or not they’re receiving it. Games heighten interaction and there for raise the level of learning. Even as someone who loves a good powerpoint, I’ll take a game over that any day.

thing 22 - more sustainable living

VINTED - one of my favorite Apps on my phone. I use it regularly to sell stuff that I don’t need anymore, and thats a lot. It is a great way to give the clothes that you no longer need a good second home and bring joy to the next owner. Because remember: “Another mans trash is another mans treasure” 

it is incredibly easy to sell and buy clothes on the app. For selling: just snap a pic of the item you want to sell and add descriptions and a price. Costumers can then either ask you additional questions, can mark the item to look at it later or just buy them from you right away. I just sold another pair of jeans which didn’t fit me anymore and the buyer is happy about some new jeans!

for buying: you can browse the app like any other regular shopping app and look at items you want to buy. You can even filter the results. 

That’s why you should always be careful with the descriptions of your clothes and be as accurate as possible, because that makes it easier for others to find your items. I highly recommend it to anyone and that way we also do our part for more sustainable fashion. Only buy what you really need, it is still no excuse for exessive shopping lol

thing 21 - Twitter

i have already had a Twitter account for quite some time because that used to be the platform on which the stars were most active in 2013 or so, so you could keep up with them on twitter the best. Now i mainly just look up austrian journalists or the amusing yet alarming tweets of Donald Trump (not anymore duh). THe analytics couldn’t give me much information because I never tweet anything of my own, but only retweet stuff or favorite it. So that didn’t really show any outcome that might be of interest. Anyway, I only use twitter for news, especially if there is something going on in the U.S, you can find that information first hand on twitter and also live streams

Thing 18 - Online Games and Learning

THE KAHOOT TUNE!  Without a doubt - some or even all of you know the annoying elevator music which is playing in the background of Kahoot quizzes. Nevertheless, we all love Kahoot. Because that means, a short break from your regular boring books and assignments in school and finally, finally some fun. It gets quite competitive with the points and leader boards up front when the teacher shares them, but this is all about the fun! My class always had a blast doing those and I think we even learned something, although I am not quite sure if everybody did. (lol) You can even make your own Quiz, which some of us did for some projects, and let your fellow classmates take the Quiz after your presentations to see if they paid attention. Kahoot is a fun way to test the knowledge of your students or your classmates after you went through a topic. It just basically lightens up the mood in the classroom a lot 😊

Thing 15 - Online Notetaking 

I already use Evernote, or have used it since I had to write a paper in my senior class of high school. I used to open a “word” document at the beginning of every research for a paper and save stuff i stumbled across on the web which migh thave been helpful for me later on. But then I saw some study tips online and that lead me to “Evernote”. You can save articles, website or screenshots to folders you create on certain topics or specific work assignments. It has proven to be very helpful and easy to use. You always have all the information you need to continue writing and you never have to look up an article again from scratch. I did recommend it to a few of my friends already and they all love it and think that is has a positive impact on their work.

addition to thing 13

i really think that the idea of “prezi” is a good one and we already used it in previous presentatiosn in school, but it was never this weird to make one myself. this really took me a long time and it wasn’t even a long presentation with a lot of pages. I cannot imagine making one for an actual presentation. The good thing is, that it automatically saves your edits every few seconds, so you don’t risk losing anything of your work. I also did not figure out how to save such a presentation on your device without updating to the pay-version. So like I said, I’m gonna stick to “PowerPoint” for my presentations but maybe look in the web for some presets because there are plenty of websites to look into for good and creative presets.
