Okay, so Nina’s reasoning for being almost antagonistic in her pushing Yuzu away from Mei had a reason, and it was one that surprised me. Basically, Nina thinks Sara’s constantly putting others before herself, and she’d give up Mei so that Yuzu could have her without hesitation. Nina thinks it’s real sweet that Sara’s so selfless, but wants Sara to have her own true happiness. It’s an angle I didn’t predict and it explains why Nina’s been as antagonistic as she has been so far. I appreciate it.

As for Sara, she’s quick to give Yuzu a chance with Mei, and later admits that it may not be that her destiny was with Mei, but was to bring Mei and Yuzu together. This is also something I can get behind. When these two girls were introduced, I was worried if they’d get proper development and agency in the story with how little episodes we had left while also not taking away too much from the main conflict of Yuzu and Mei. And I’m happy to say that in these short few episodes featuring them, they have been wonderful characters. Way better than poor old Harumin.

Speaking of which, Yuzu and Mei’s relationship also got a satisfying conclusion. After 11 episodes of drama and fighting and awkwardness and will they/won’t they we got our pay off. Yeah, it’s step sibling incest, but it’s fictitious and well executed as a romance story. Good shit. I very much enjoyed Citrus.
