Cherche's French Dessert litter are almost 3 weeks old now! Two of them have eaten frozen/thawed with gusto twice, so I'm excited to start sharing some of the babies as they take more meals!
One of the firsts to eat is this little male, named Gâteau ❤
He was eye-catching from the day he was born and gets better every time I look at him! He's been quite the anomaly. I was expecting the litter to be as clear cut genetically in that some would look like mom and some would look like dad. He's the outlier! Had me scratching my head and reaching out to my mentor and some of my breeder friends.
He appears to be more of an aberrant rufescens-cross. This is purely random influence due to KSBs and their subspecies hybridization with Rufescens Sand Boas. As far as I'm aware, none of the parents' littermates or parents had expression like this.
He is getting this rich reddish orange hue that's impossible to pick up on camera. His oranges remind me more of the sire, the saddle colors are still developing but remind me of younger pictures of the sire as well. Both are incredibly desired outcomes. I would consider Gâteau low-medium expression in terms of his paradoxing. He's got a mix of bigger splotches and smaller specks which leads me to my absolute favorite thing about this boy... y'all he's got a heart AND a sparkle on him. Literally come on!!! WHat!!! I'm completely enamored with this gorgeous boy. Look forward to updates as he grows. If you're interested in more frequent updates, I post near daily on my instagram
