25 Days of Draco and Harry – Traditional Prompt 1

Thank you for participating in the 18th Annual 25 Days of Draco and Harry Challenge—Traditional Edition for 2025.

It's once again time for a variety of Christmas themed works from marvelous creators to fill up your hearts and as many of your socials as they can find - some combination of Tumblr, LiveJournal, Dreamwidth, PillowFort, and of course AO3.

You can choose to follow the fest right here using #25Days2025, by joining our Discord (sign up here), or monitoring the 2025 AO3 collection. In the new year, we'll binge-read and post the master list.

Each day at midnight by this clock (US-EST) the prompt for the day will be posted to our socials (and Discord).

Here is the first prompt.

Day One—Snow-covered House with Overgrown Gardens A two-storey building built with light brown bricks stands among several tall trees, some leafless for the winter, others evergreen. The visible sky is thick with clouds as white as the snow blanketing the building's roof and the grounds surrounding it. Snow-covered and overgrown shrubs surround the building, and the remnants of climbing vines stretch up several of its walls toward the roof line. A small fence of green bollards and a single chain is visible in front of the shrubs. Two chimneys are visible on the roof, and four large windows face toward the viewer. A small enclosed porch is visible with a bright green door.

Here is the fourth prompt.

Day Four—Street Lamp Decorated with Evergreen Wreath A single Victorian-era street lamp stands beside a large evergreen tree on a public roadway. Affixed to the pole below the lamp is a single bushy evergreen wreath emblazoned with a bright red ribbon. The lamp and wreath have light snow resting on them, as do the trees nearby. Other trees and some row houses are visible in the background, as is a second and similarly decorated street lamp. The sky is white with cloud cover, and the belfry of a church is visible over the rooftops of the nearby houses.

Here is the third prompt.

Day Three—Gingerbread Cookies and Mug of Drink A white ceramic mug decorated with small sprigs of holly and stylised Christmas trees, and the words 'Merry Christmas' is sitting on an oversize wooden coaster with three slices of dried orange. Two decorated gingerbread person cookies are visible; one behind the mug to the left and one in front to the right. A small evergreen bough is visible in the background, as are a string of small warm-white lights. A single golden bauble is situated in the centre front of the image. All of these items are resting on top of a pale cream-coloured cable-knit sweater on the inside ledge of a window that is decorated with a festive paper cutting featuring a Christmas tree and a building.

Here is the eighteenth prompt.

Day Eighteen—Decorated Gingerbread Cookies A dozen decorated gingerbread cookies are laid out on a sheet of brown paper along with a small white cloth. The cookies are cut into a variety of festive shapes and decorated with coloured icing. In the centre there is a large gingerbread person with three round red buttons and simple white wavy lines across the limbs. To the top and bottom of the group are two red boots with white fur lining and a black heel. There are three Christmas trees decorated with white tinsel and red baubles. To the upper left is a trio of green holly leaves and red berries, To the upper right, a red fur-lined mitten. To the lower right, a red bow, and finally two small gingerbread people and a small snow person. The gingerbread people are decorated similarly to their larger companion, and the snow person has three black buttons, a small orange carrot nose, and a red hat.

Here is the fourteenth prompt.

Day Fourteen—Christmas Decorated Corduroy Jacket A male-presenting mannequin is styled wearing a red corduroy jacket, blue denim jeans, a brown belt with a gold buckle, and a light blue linen shirt. The jacket is a deep red colour, with shiny gold trim around the outer edges of the collar and lapels. Gold and silver fern designs extend down from each shoulder to a bunch of holly and a single bell. Below these are two Santa Claus figures, showing from the torso upward, and sitting in a partial wreath of evergreen leaves and holly berries. Beneath the Santa on the image-left side, a simple gold trim extends to the pocket where it is then obscured. On the image-right side, the gold and silver fern design continues to the base of the jacket where the same shiny trim from the collar resumes. The gold and silver fern design is also present around each cuff.

Here is the tenth prompt.

Day Ten—Reindeer-drawn Sleighs A train of reindeer-drawn sleighs including at least three vehicles is situated in a clearing within a forest of evergreen trees. The trees and ground are covered with heavy snowfall, and the treeline to the back of the image is quite thick. The lead deer has a large set of sharp antlers on its head. Its fur is black around the muzzle working a gradient to pale grey down its neck, darkening again through the body and down its legs. The sleigh is hitched via a harness fashioned from red and blue rope sitting across its shoulders. The first sleigh is a simple construction made from wood and does not include any coverings for shelter.

The rumours are (once again) true! We have a bonus prompt for your enjoyment. It's literally for anyone to jump on if you want to use it to extend your work with a little more (completely optional) festive fun.

Bonus Prompt 2025—London New Year's Eve Fireworks Several firework explosions are visible in the night sky above the Houses of Parliament. The display features primarily starburst pyrotechnics in brilliant pinks, blues, greens, and golds. The Houses of Parliament are illuminated from the riverbank with bright yellow light, the reflection of the building clearly visible in the water of the river Thames. Various other buildings in the London skyline are visible as silhouettes against the night sky.

Day Twenty Five—White Lights Among Evergreen Boughs A very close shot of evergreen boughs is shown, likely a close-up shot of a Christmas tree illuminated with blue-white lights. A single brilliant light is located centrally in the image and faces toward the viewer. Three sections of the tree are shown in sharp focus, the rough texture of the twigs and sharp points of the needles clearly visible in the cool light. Several additional lights are also visible in soft focus in the background of the image, along with more boughs.
