I'll have a lot of time next week to try catch up on anime, but of course that's not gonna stop me from working on stuff now. To that end I watched the 2 episodes of Wistoria that have came out since I watched the first one, and I guess I feel the same way about them as I did the first episode - this is a lot of effort being put into some truly dull source material. It's great that Harry Potter, Japan is a good looking show, except actually wait I don't really care. Polishing a turd and all that. This isn't quite so bad as a turd, but it really is just kinda nothing and dull and every single person on the planet would pass on this were it not for the production. Elusive Samurai is airing right now and has a similar effect of "pretty boring but lavish production values are keeping people going" except it's less boring and more lavish, so it just holds attention better. I'm coming across meaner than I actually feel, like I didn't hate anything I was watching here, but like, you know. Bye show.
I could cry tears of joy I'm so happy GOA the GOAT is fucking back
"Why don't they just kill the villain" isn't a school of thought I've ever respected because I think in most cases it disrespects the nature of storytelling and is kind of just a childish way to look at things. However. We are like 3 episodes removed from sending one of our main characters on a mission to literally assassinate Gauron. Thus it is bizarre to me that he is just kind of taken prisoner here instead of killed on the spot. There hasn't been any grand change in the good guys' morality or their perception of Gauron. They have him red-handed and they can kill him and they just don't. Once he's taken prisoner he escapes, obviously, and even standing point-blank with a gun aimed at Gauron some guy takes the time to make a witty aside instead of just fucking shooting him. Like I hate this. I just hate this. This sucks. This is crap. All the villains won't shut up about threatening to rape the female characters. This is just trash.
This show's looked pretty solid across the board but this moment in particular was like, woah
Zaman gecmisinin kenarlarini koreltir saniyorsun. Gittikce katlanilabilir olur saniyorsun. Her gece daha da siddetleniyor. Her gece unuttum sandigin yeni bir kabusla uyaniyorsun. Aptal ve zayif. Oyle ki beni bile rahatsiz ediyorsun. Surekli bir hatirlaticidan fazlasi olamadin, olamayacaksin. Hayir. Nezaketi haketmiyorsun. Atlatmayi bile beceremezken simarmayi hakettigini dusunmen acinasi. Kacmiyorsun. Kacamiyorsun. Yeterince guclu degilsin. Neden sasirmadim.
Haberi yok.
Cesursun ama -yaralarinin- zalimliginden kurtulamiyorsun. Bir daha asla butun olamayacaksin. Kacis yok. Soluklanmaya zaman yok.
