GA: Our Understanding Is That Influence From Doomed Timelines GA: Though Seemingly Necessary To Advance In The Alpha Reality GA: Is Generally Inauspicious GA: Travelers From Such Branches Are Marked For Death GA: And Though It Was Only An Insubstantial Part Of You Which Traveled GA: Just Memories I Suppose GA: Its Still Troubling
I didn't consider that - but the whole point of going back was to contribute to a more promising timeline. If saving John has marked Rose for death, then it feels like less of an improvement on Davesprite's timeline, and more of a lateral move.
I don't think Rose is doomed - but the memories of Future Rose might be destined for erasure.
TT: Surely you must have spoken to the gods by now. [...] GA: I Havent GA: I Have Never Visited Derse Or Traveled Beyond The Veil GA: Prospits Moon Was My Home GA: For Most Of My Dreaming Life [...] TT: This surprises me. GA: Why [...] TT: Good question.
I think Rose picked up on Kanaya's goth vibes, and subconsciously associated her with the Dark Kingdom - but to a troll, light is gothic.
GA: Skaia Was Always The Foil For My Curiosity GA: But It Only Showed Me What I Needed To See GA: It Very Much Had The Presence Of Something Sentient GA: And GA: Benevolent GA: But Silent
There is an obvious intelligence residing within Skaia - but I'm skeptical that it's benevolent. At best, it's an alien intelligence which considers itself ''''above''' morals or ethics.
To its Players, it reveals just enough to bait them into propagating existence, and tactically omits the price of doing so.
GA: Not Something To Converse With Or Be Instructed By GA: Or Anything With An Agenda Beyond Which It Knows To Be Manifest Already GA: Like A Very Clear Mirror
That said, Skaia may not actually be 'choosing' to manipulate its Players, because it might not actually have free will.
Kanaya makes it sound like an extremely intelligent and powerful machine, programmed to facilitate sessions and preserve causality. From this perspective, Skaia isn't a person, or even a force of nature - it's a pillar, holding the multiverse up.
That said...
If there is an agenda behind Skaia, then it's motivated to obfuscate that fact. Kanaya seems to have learned about Skaia's lack of agenda from Skaia itself, so I'd still like a second opinion.
GA: And I Dont Trust Gods That Would Eschew Its Light
The gods avoid Skaia's 'light'. Combined with what Kanaya said about its agenda, it sounds like they might be immune to the predestination it facilitates.
Perhaps, then, if you were really desperate to escape your fate, you could flee to the space beyond your session - an ocean of monsters, far beyond the Alpha Timeline's domain - and make a deal.
Perhaps you could do that. Hypothetically.
