27 Bones by M Manese
At birth, Each human being has around 300 bones As we grow older, That number shrinks to two hundred and six Our bones fused together And I guess, It's our body's way for acclimatizing us to loss The region of our body that has the most number of bones Are the hands 27 on each one This number allows for optimum flexibility That lets us touch Grasp Grip Linger Hold on And let go And when we touch something, That action is delivered to our brain at a hundred and twenty-four miles per hour But I'd like to believe That when I touched you for the first time, It was a lot faster than a hundred and twenty-four miles to know That you were someone worth That information overload You Managed to embed yourself in my subconscious; Creep under my skin without me noticing that's in you; Was six feet underneath all of my dreams Who became my new dream I didn't even need to fall asleep Especially when I couldn't Since you made reality much more bearable Since our hearts beat around a hundred thousand times everyday I could say for certain that three-fourths of mine were meant for you Since your presence alone keep my heart into overdrive From 0-60 miles in a blink of an eye And I'm not sure how I'm still standing here I've gotten invincible Especially when I know that I crumbled when I tried to touch you without a purpose Other than revealing all you had to offer I wanted to grasp your hair And feel the tension cracking in between I wanted to latch in your arms And grip on to your skin With all that I'm worth I want To be worthy of you I wanted you to feel me in all of my corners I wanted to linger on your surface I wanted you to hold on to me and never let me go But you did You did And it seemed so easy for you As if your 27 bones conspired to the letting go And how every step you took away I was becoming one bone lesser Until all that was left Was a mass of flesh Skin And too much bad poetry However one of my 54 Fortified yours I was becoming less And you were becoming more By taking everything of me By leaving nothing of me behind Nothing We have 27 bones on each hand This number allows for optimum flexibility But I can't For the life of me figured out why I couldn't hold on When I felt you steedfastingly slipping away I never thought that I'd lose more bones Than when I started with But my 54 bones lasted when you found me And you know, That shivering, Is our body's response to generate heat in the cold But my teeth Just shatters Since I no longer have memories of you to keep me warm That instead, I wrap a blanket around myself And pretend they're your arms But I'm still cold Freezing And the thought of you with another woman Pleasing her the way ******** Gives me **** But I've got 2 bones to fight back So I will wait Until it consumes me Until it eats me up alive The sense of taste Is the weakest of the 5 senses But that can't be true Since I could still taste all of your promises on my tongue And it left a bitter taste in my mouth But maybe, Maybe That's just you
