if XCXDE has remixed music I don't even know if I'd actually want to use it the Sawano originals are genuinely among my favourite tracks in all of video games
scrolling some twitter reactions, got reminded of the breast size slider cut from the western release, I'll be real I actually do want that specifically to return just for better character customisation and variety and stuff, although god seeing it get mentioned again did remind me we might get censorship discourse again which like dude fuck offffffffffffff
yeah nah I just don't really care
Time for another fully serious Nanami focus instead of putting her in an entertaining gag-adjacent scenario that has tragic implications anyway. And wow is she going through it, huh. Placing so much stock in her love for her older brother despite how much of a playboy he is only to have that entire image crumble because they're not even related is wild. Never felt so bad for somebody not being able to have a real incest relationship with their sibling. And it doesn't stop there! Because in an effort to process all this Nanami is invited to stay at Akio's place for a bit, where she witnesses none other than Akio and Anthy - actual siblings - having sex. Great, that'll go over well for Nanami. Feels bad. It's even more potent because I think this episode is the first time we really see Touga when he's not putting on airs - even something as simple as him coming into Nanami's room, checking in on her, asking if she's seen his phone - it's the most normal he's ever been. Just makes it all hit that bit harder. Really good episode, excited for next week to see where this goes.
And I just ended up reading this right now as well. Step down from the original series in that it doesn't really have much it wants to do, other than gags with Akira who isn't really that entertaining anyway. Baseline enjoyable enough for a 6 though. I'll probably read High School tomorrow methinks.
Been working my way through the omnibus volume just whenever I felt like it, and hey I finally finished. Gotta say, a book that big and heavy but still paperback really isn't optimised for reading lol. Oh well. Anyway, there's a sentiment that the K-On manga is like, completely mediocre, and as a series it's only fondly remembered because of its anime adaptation. Now, the anime is a substantial improvement and I imagine K-On wouldn't really be remembered at all without it, but that first point about it being completely mediocre, idk I didn't really agree. Maybe it helps that I'm already attached to these characters because of said anime but I really do think their antics are entertaining and their personalities endearing. Again anime is better but it's a little sad that this manga gets written off like that, you know? Anyway I'll read College and High School soon and also the anthology comics and then I suppose see what the deal with Shuffle's release schedule is.
You know if the show looked as technically proficient as the first episode did for its entire runtime I still think I'd find it ugly and not really respect its existence at all - I don't think an adaptation should aim so transparently to be "the source, but with motion" and I think Jason DeMarco is a fraud. I find it cathartic then that they abysmally failed their "make an actually good Junji Ito adaptation" goal and I hope something like this is never attempted ever again.
