I love cozy nights when I turn on a old stream vod from GIGGS and just write or draw late into the night.
It brings me a great joy.

My new Covid hobby is watching classic movies and sort of watching my characters respond to them
It’s bringing out some interesting characterization tidbits, and it’s really fun because my characters happen to be Victorian-era and canonically know nothing beyond like 1928 at most so I can really make it a fun exercise on deconstruction of expectations. Like, my first go was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and imagining it completely unspoiled made me realize—since it’s so iconic, and since I saw it so young, I don’t remember any anticipation of seeing the Candy Room for the first time.
I don’t have to put an image here, do I? Whether you’re a fan of the film or not, and really, very little not to be a fan of c’mon, the mental image is crystal clear. The mushrooms, the gummy bears, the chocolate waterfall. You got Pure Imagination going. It’s Pavlovian pop culture.
So taking that and being in the potential space of someone who *was never in their life even slightly told about this movie or book*—someone walking into the singular experience as if it was the first day in theatres—it’s honestly magical, okay? I stopped at key acts to sort of figure on expectations and ended up drawing concepts for a more Industrial Revolution style factory, the kind that someone dropped in our time period wholesale would expect. It’s a fascinating way to open up ideas you might never have thought of, and builds the character in the process—it’s essentially seeing the world through their eyes, after all. Eye. There was a—look he’s shorthanded “Woundson” for a reason I’m trash etc
