I like to see both.
so a trope that i have come to greatly enjoy in TRoS-compliant gingerpilot fic is when at some point while spying, Hux suddenly unsticks his moral compass enough to start feeling guilty about the choices he's made and is struggling to be a better person. however, due to a Situation, in order to leak information or keep his cover he is forced to absolutely body a fellow First Order member who was just doing their job. and so now not only is Hux slowly having a mental breakdown about his war crimes, but he's also faced with having had to kill some other poor FO sod that was just as much a cog in Palpatine's machine as he was and is horrified that he just cannot escape the cycle of Killing People.
aka: traumatized and covered in blood :D
now with a sequel of sorts!
hugs are you /srs or /j

the sweater!
How about Hux being court-martialed for killing his father because Pryde found out and decided it's a great way to get rid of Armitage.
And then there is Kylo watching it baffled because this is something new, and apparently Hux is something else than what he thought he was.
And then there is resistance because Pryde made it, like, you know, high profile in the media around the galaxy. So one day Finn woke Poe up with a "You won't believe what's going on in the First Order," and Poe becomes obsessed with this. Looking up everything he can find about Hux and the situation.
And then there is Phasma because Pryde gave her a choice to either leave or stand accused with Hux. It wasn't aimed at her, so he let her leave. And she left, because if there is a chance to help Armitage get out of this sitting with him in one cell won't help at all.
And then there is Mitaka, who is torn between his loyalty to Hux and to the First Order. But he hates Pryde; of this he is certain. And he does everything he can to make Hux's life easier.
And then there is Hux, kept locked in a holding cell, stripped of his rank and authority, slowly going insane and plotting revenge. This is the state when his mind says "I don't care anymore. I don't care if I win, I need Pryde to lose."
And also there is Pryde who orchestrated the whole thing and is finally winning so why does he feels like he is losing control with every meeting of the court and why does he drunk himself under his desk every night.
Damn. I might actually write this one. This is fun.
Making hux/period accurate canon movie ships is so tough cos they all look like this to me
