New Promise Community Space

Featuring beautifully hand-lettered chalkboard signs with messages like, "Take one, make one, or trade many," "Fresh fall produce available for barter or support," "Looking for someone? Leave a note," and "Use what you need, leave what you don't."

Today was perfectly imperfect. And y'know what? That's okay! ☺️

It's going to take some getting used to, but people are definitely showing up and making use of this new resource.

First things first? Signage, of course.

This old billboard has mostly just been in the way for the past year and a half. But it comes in handy as an impromptu canvas, a highly visible way of saying, yes, you're in the right place!

Looks like they're sticking with the evergreen tree motif. 😁

Octavia has also been making major strides—just in the most chaotic way imaginable.

With a deep, restorative breath of our third consecutive incense related house fire incense, Octavia has officially completed her first aspiration, which means... well, you'll have to wait and find out. 😉

She's also maxed Cooking and Parenting and rolled not one, not two, but three possible personality trait discoveries in the span of a few days: Slob, Squeamish, and Perfectionist. (Insulting and contradictory!) I wish these "discoveries" were a little more spaced out, given that we supposedly only get 3 of them per sim? (or per lifestage? I don't actually know if I understand) but what are you going to do? 🤷🏼‍♀️

For better or for worse, Perfectionist does seem pretty true to form (that old type A, high-achiever, career-oriented mentality creeping back in alongside her newfound "clarity," I suppose!) so I accepted that one. Apologies in advance to Lydia, Tyler, and everyone else in the community for setting her standards even higher.

Our first visitor ever of the day has arrived, and she's here because she heard New Promise had winter coats available for trade.

"So Cora was like, 'You aren't in Del Sol anymore, Mi, it gets cold in the winter. Like, freezing! Why'd you cut the sleeves off your denim jacket?' but it's been so freaking hot this summer, and, I don't know, it's a look, right?"

Everyone came home from the welcome center in good spirits but (unsurprisingly) completely spent from two back-to-back, activity-packed days. Naturally, they all did that thing where you think you're laying down for a quick power nap before dinner, but actually just end up going to bed for the night. Octavia and Tyler may or may not end up paying for this tomorrow, but it's the end of their rotation. We're off duty! 😉

Before we go, here's a rundown of everything we accomplished this week:

opened the community welcome center for business with the outside world ✅

"discovered" that Octavia is a Perfectionist ✅

Octavia maxed Cooking, Parenting ✅

Tyler is also nearly there on maxing Cooking, and both Tyler and Octavia are thiiiiis close 🤏🏻 to maxing Gardening as well! ✅

Lydia maxed Communication, Imagination, and Movement skills ✅

celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival and Halloween with friends old and new ✅

officially one big happy household ✅
