"Right. Thanks, Octavia."

BATH TIME !
S1E6 / S2E15
Dawson wants to do better. Dawson wants to be better.
But it's fucking hard.
How are you supposed to help build the future when you're stuck in the past?
How are you supposed to break through your own mental and emotional barriers battling toxic masculinity when it's those exact barriers that are keeping you in place?
I feel badly ending this chapter without at least some form of resolution (at least narratively speaking!)
Everyone else seems to be having a cathartic experience, Cherry included.
"Hey. I... I'm sorry. I didn't realize... I just—"
...
"...I'm sorry."
As instructed, Dawson dutifully delivers the pan de muerto. The simple altar is quite full already with an eclectic assortment of mementos.
Tyler seems quite pleased with how things have come together.
"We were about to start a fire, if you want to stay a bit before you go. No recruiting, I swear."
"...Yeah, I can stick around."
Fishing is fun!
Especially with a friend.
I won't lie, it just feels... kinda weird to try and chart Dawson's accomplishments this rotation. There's a lot more in store for Dawson, but before he can engage meaningfully with the community he's chosen to make his home, he needs to meaningfully engage with himself.
Beginning to untangle the unhealthy coping mechanisms he's used to survive and explore his grief ✅
Strengthening existing friendships and making new connections with other area survivors ✅
Repping New Promise inside and outside the community ✅
The community's first Dia de los Muertos event (let's work on making it more of a celebration next year!) ✅
Steady progress on Angling Ace aspiration and Athletics, Charisma, and Gardening skills ✅
