I have found that a simple 2dB shelf boost at 100Hz and 10kHz will be quite revealing. This is not to suggest that these exact boosts at these points are exactly what your mastering engineer would do, but it is certainly illustrative to how the mix behaves under a somewhat common EQ curve. And, after your mix is complete you can bypass the 2-Mix EQ and deliver something to your mastering engineer that is more adequately prepared and balanced
