Parijs, de lichtstad!

Om 5 uur opstaan dan naar school fietsen en hop de bus in. Al bij al was de bus nog erg comfortabel al een geluk zat ik dan ook benden en niet boven tussen 2 stoelen in. Slapen heb ik niet gedaan ik was iets te opgewonden voor deze reis. Na een vijf tal uur in zweetlucht rijden zijn we eindelijk aangekomen aan ons hotel. Dan rap de bagage weg doen en terug de bus in om naar l'arc de triomphe te gaan. Ik ben ook voor de eerste keer in l’arc geweest dit raad ik zeker aan natuurlijk zijn er trappen en die zal je moeten doen maar het uitzicht is geweldig mooi. Nog even genieten van het uitzicht en dan naar beneden naar de champs elysees. Veel tijd om te shoppen hadden we daar niet. Dus we konden ook niet 2km afstappen. We konden nog wel rap een foto pakken voor louis vuitton en dan terug naar de verzamel plek. 

Nu gingen we de metro in dit was zeker niet mijn eerste keer om de metro te nemen in Parijs. Het ding dat mij bij blijft, zijn de tunnels die je moet door wandelen en die eindeloos lijken. Zo de juiste lijn gepakt en hop en je bent in geen tijd bij monmartre. 

Het eerste wat we deden was naar le sacre cour wandelen maar je moet eerst een straat door met veel toeristische winkels.

 Natuurlijk horen daar ook oplichters bij. Voor deze mensen moet je oppassen. De meest voorkomende zijn de plakjes leggen, bij dit spel ligt er 100 euro onder een plak of een beker en je moet geld inzetten en dan draait er iemand met de plakjes dan is het aan jou om te weten waar de 100 euro zit maar natuurlijk 1/10 dat je wint. Laat je ook niet misleiden door mensen dat wel winnen want dat zijn vriend of familie die bij elkaar horen. Voor beter uitleg over oplichterij raad ik jullie zeker aan om axel opgelicht te zien 1 van de eerste afleveringen gaat over Parijs. 

Verder naar boven eindelijk aan de trappen gekomen en dan a la Rocky op de trappen lopen. En dan na 237 trappen uitrusten met een prachtig uitzicht over Parijs. 

Nu is het tijd voor een beetje vrije tijd. We moeten natuurlijk ook niet vergeten ons boekje in te vullen. 

Place de tettre Vinden we een Frans man die ons graag wilt interviewen. Hij was zeer vriendelijk en grappig.

Dan gingen we eten in een typisch Frans restaurant. Het was zeer lekker de geur van een goeie steak en zalm was het beste ooit. Na het eten de metro in om dan naar de eifel toren te gaan. Iedereen was wel geimprsioneerd maar ik niet aangezien ik al vaak in Parijs ben geweest en ik de stad als Antwerpen vanbuiten ken. Spijtig genoeg mochten we niet met de lift naar boven maar moesten we de trappen nemen. Na een vermoeiende tien minuten met de trap naar de eerste verdieping waren we er eindelijk gekomen. Een prachtig uitzicht over de stad. Maar ik wilde nog hoger dus maar naar het tweede. Op knikkende beentjes terug tien minuten naar boven en  dan maar genieten van de zonsondergang die zich plaats vond aan la defense. 

Terug naar beneden gingen we wel met de lift. was maar 2 minuten naar beneden dus dit ging vrij rap. Dan nog even genoten van de Eiffeltoren met zijn lichte aan en dan terug de metro in naar het hotel. Dit is niet het beste hotel mar het was wel deftig. Het bed was comfortabel de hotel geur was er echt wel en alles was wel in orde.

Mom and I went up to New York to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa this week. We left Wednesday morning at 7:35 and arrived around 2:15 at Heid’s of Liverpool for coneys with Aunt Dolores and “Uncle” Jeanine. It was good to see them! I think the last time we were up two years ago that’s how we departed. Afterwards, we hopped over to the grandparents’ house in Fayetteville. Yesterday was busy! We spent the morning cleaning out some of the things that Grandma said we could take, like pictures and odds and ends that she doesn’t use or want. Then we went to see Bob and Sue’s house. It is indescribable! It’s like the Lodge, only a bit smaller and homey. After lunch, we went to see Mark and Barbara Serafin. She opened the door and said, “It’s ‘you’re 12, you’re 12!’ More like, ‘you’re 30, you’re 30!’“ Her son, Mark, had heart surgery 2 weeks ago. He looks good, albeit a little tired. We talked with them for awhile, then went back home before going out to dinner with Dov and Jeanine with Grandpa, too. And then today we briefly stopped by the Serafins again to take a picture with Mark. I gave him my resume because he said he could pass it along to people he knows at the ABC station up there. Who knows?? From there, we went to DestiNY and I got two pairs of shoes. I wasn’t planning on it, but since it’s really hard to me to find shoes I like that actually fit, it worked out. Then we had lunch with Dov and Jeanine in the mall and then at 2:10 or so Mom and I were on the road back to Maryland!

It was a good trip for a few different reasons. We were able to spend a lot of time with Auntie Dovie and Jeanine, which we never get to do. That was probably the most I’ve ever seen them in a really really long time. There was so much stuff that we cleaned out of Grandma and Grandpa’s house and took with us, which Grandma for some reason was glad we did. And I’m glad we saw the Serafins again, because the last time I saw them was at least 10 years ago or so! Probably more. Definitely more, actually. I don’t even remember. So that was nice. Yes, it was a short trip. But on the way home and when we got here, we both said that it didn’t feel like we’ve only been gone for 2 and a half / 3 days. It’s felt longer. I think it felt that way because we did a lot. I always enjoy it up there and have missed it. So it was worth it, even if it only lasted a short time.
