thats funny, i just took a shower and had a nihilistic epiphany and wrote like 8 paragraphs of bullshit which i thought were kind of good but already have rotten past their expiration date so whoops waste of my life in that direction as well might as well do my chemistry homework in case i wake up tomorrow and think anything matters again - - - - -

(Part 2 because it didn't fit) What I mean to say is that everyone's experience of parental expectations is essentially the same unless you live in an abusive/extreme household. Like what is there to say other then "My parent's want me to be a ____ but that makes me feel stressed because I want to be a ___." It just isn't... complex enough of a topic to write different things on even if it is a short assignment. Just bad vibes man. I don't know. =3

Yeah, definitely. It's really frustrating to write about something in a creative format (like writing i guess lol) and have it be a topic that so aggressively formulaic and dull. And then if you do have a relevant extreme/abusive issue a) you probably won't write it bc they have to report shit although it depends on the teacher i guess if they actually will and b) its super anxious making like great lets bring all this stuff up and like just ugh on the topic . I just feel bad bc I can see where this is coming from in terms of assigning it and why, but it is aggressively boring and useless

It’s a shit essay topic. It’s too personal (especially if you have a fucked up family) and has little substance. The average person, if they were being honest, couldn’t say anything deep or even mildly intresting. =3

Yeah! I mean, I think pretty much everyone has *parental expectations* to deal with, but there's so much room for that essay to go wrong, you know? And like I get that it's to make us think and help us connect with Biff and Happy but it's kind of ... sloppy? Idk  maybe she did it because there wasn't a lot of in class discussion, which I guess makes sense because even the Benniest of Bennys isn't going to be like "oh sure let me talk about this big insecurity I have about something my parents expect me to do really well that seems like a fun discussion to have with the people in this room lets do it"

True, but it isn't really degree of fear, but abstract stuff vs more tangible things, life changes over a period of time vs little frights; I know what you're saying though but they don't have to be black and white either (don't you usually smile while you laugh? :b) it would just be simpler if we had a nice, one word, adjective for either :b
