2ManySiblings in Brighton
MORE exciting news? You better believe it! 2ManySiblings are hitting Brighton this summer.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the pair's work, 2ManySiblings are an unbelievably cool, Nairobi-based, brother-sister duo of style bloggers, also known as Velma Rossa and Papa Petit.
And, for those of you who have been following our Tumblr posts over recent months - you've probably guessed by now that 2ManySiblings are a pretty big deal for Brighton Museums' Fashion Africa project.
Not only did the pair take care of Helen Mears when she visited Nairobi last summer, educate the Fashion Cities Africa team on the world of Mitumba and thrift culture and style four unique looks for us to display in the exhibition - but have now provided us with a set of super handy styling tips and tricks to share with you guys.
Just to keep you hanging, we won't be revealing all of these tips until Fashion Cities Africa opens at the end of April. However, to give you an idea of what to expect, here are a couple of our favourites...
"Examine your wardrobe and see what pieces you haven't worn in a while. Either get rid of these or get inspired to go shop for an item that will complement an unworn garment."
"Know your personal style: what silhouettes and colours you gravitate towards. Thrifting can be an overwhelming experience but knowing your staples makes for an easier process."
... And it gets better. 2ManySiblings will be touching down in Brighton in June to host a series of events at the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery - and we'd love you all to be there!
On Thursday 16th June, Velma and Papa will be showing Brighton what they do best and hosting their very own Thrift Social event. Here you can expect to meet the siblings (for real!), hang out with like-minded fashion lovers, trade garments, up-cycle old clothes, listen to music and put 2ManySiblings' styling tips into practise for yourself.
On Saturday 18th June, the pair will then be hanging out at Brighton Museum again, giving a public talk on themselves, what they do and their contribution to Fashion Cities Africa.
