It’s hard to explain to people outside the Philippines just how massive Sandara was (and is!) here. She wasn't just a celebrity; she was ours. Seeing a foreigner master Filipino—a language even lifelong learners struggle with—was mind-blowing. When she headed back to Korea, the rumors were flying: “Is she training?” “Did she join Wonder Girls?” That connection is exactly why "Nobody" became the unofficial anthem of the Philippines that year.

But then, 2NE1 happened.

When they debuted with "Fire," everything changed. They didn't just walk into the scene; they set it on fire. They brought a "Girl Crush" energy that felt completely refreshing. Before them, the concept of a powerful, edgy, and unapologetic female group wasn't the norm. Now? You can see their DNA in almost every major group today. Their legacy didn't end with their disbandment—it became the blueprint.

That was my "gateway drug." Since that era, I’ve fallen deep into the K-Pop and K-Drama rabbit hole. From the Second Generation legends to the newest monster rookies, I’ve seen it all. If there’s a group or a drama worth knowing, chances are it’s already on my radar.

The Stan Era started in 2009, and honestly? It’s never ending.
