Hi! This is one of the fanfictions that was inspired by another one of my conversations with @konigreich-preussen! It’s a 2p!RomBela story because I am obsessed with the 2p!’s, I might be more obsessed with them even more than I am with the 1p!’s :P Warning; this was mostly written very late at night, so if it doesn’t make the most sense, that’s why. :P This is just the prolog, I will post the first chapter sometime or another.... Read it if you want! :D
A door creaked open, and Liliya stuck her head out before fully stepping out into the dim hallway. It was almost eleven at night and most of the servants would be asleep. Liliya doubted that she would run into anyone. Her heels clicked loudly on the stone floors of the giant castle that Liliya had always called home. Her shadow was cast upon the wall behind her as Liliya hurried to get to the garden and out of the halls. She wanted to escape the suffocating walls and the watchful eyes of her family, and the closest she could do to escaping was if she went to the garden. Liliya loved her family, she loved them with all her heart, and she knew that they had only the best intentions… But they had closed her off from the rest of the world at a single sign of danger. Liliya was different from her siblings in the fact that she had been the one to inherit the family’s long history of being able to sense magic and intentions, not Katya who was the eldest or Viktor who was the only male. Because of this Liliya’s parents had always been extra protective of Liliya. Liliya’s parent’s way of protecting her is by keeping her indoors and only teaching her basic “womanly” skills and not allowing her to join her older siblings in learning academic teachings and not allowing her to go to social gatherings until she was much older. Liliya froze at the door to the garden, looking right and left before she opened the door and stepped out.
The garden had always been Liliya’s favorite place in the castle, besides the library. With its large trees and winding pathways, it made Liliya feel as if she had stepped into a real forest. A large smile found its way onto Liliya’s face as she breathed in the fresh air. She flounced down one of the stone pathways towards her most favorite spot by the man made river. Settling down on the edge of the river, Liliya started humming cheerfully as she pulled out a book and a candle from the small satchel she was carrying. She sat there for quite a while, only the sound of humming and turning pages filled the air… Until Liliya heard a twig snap behind her. Liliya froze mid-page turn, eyes wide with fear as she fought with the two desires, one to turn around and the other to start running. Liliya’s decision was made for her however, as a gruff voice spoke from right behind her. “What are you doing?” Relief flooded into Liliya at the sound of her brothers’ voice. Turning to face him Liliya placed her hand over her beating heart. “You scared me Viktor! What are you doing out here so late? I thought you hated the garden?” Viktor scowled at her as he spoke. “What I am doing out here is none of your business.” Liliya immediately smiled at him in apology. “Yes, of course, I’m sorry.” Setting the candle and book down Liliya bowed at Viktor. “I’m sorry for interrupting… whatever it was you are doing.” Liliya gave him one last smile before she sat back down and picked up her book again. “You never answered my question Liliya.” Viktor’s voice sounded annoyed, he hated when people didn’t answer his questions. Liliya turned back to look at him nervously, technically, she was doing nothing wrong. She was in the castle walls, she could see guards walking along the battlements, and she was only a short run away from the door leading back to the castle. But it always made her nervous talking to people about why she loved going to the garden. “Wha-what was your question again?” Liliya decided to play innocent. Viktor’s scowl deepened. “I said. What. Are. You. Doing. Here.” “Oh… yes…Well…” Liliya looked down at the ground. “I just wanted to come over here to relax…” Viktor looked down at her with knitted brows. “Fine. Do whatever you want.” Viktor turned and walked towards a different part of the garden. Liliya watched him walk away and breathed a sigh of relief. “Whew!” She smiled cheerfully and turned back to her book. About twenty minutes later Liliya’s candle was melted down to a stub and Liliya’s book only had a few pages left. Liliya took a break and stretched her arms. Looking towards where Viktor had went Liliya saw a faint shadow of him that was cast by another candle light. Turning back to her book, she thought she heard the faint sound of breathing. Giving a quick glance to the surrounding area Liliya saw nothing. She shook her head, smiling at how silly she was. ‘What a silly imagination I have… breathing, really!’ Liliya turned back to the book with the intent of finishing it. But she only just opened the book when she heard footsteps approaching her. Expecting it to be Viktor Liliya didn’t bother turning around. Instead she waited for him to say something. When he didn’t say anything for a couple moments, Liliya glanced up briefly and then she looked back down at the book. And her eyes widened in realization. She had assumed that the person walking up behind her had been Viktor… but if it had been, shouldn’t his shadow have disappeared from where he had walked off? Liliya quickly went to turn around but was stopped by a hand over her mouth. The last things Liliya saw before she blacked out was a pair of dark purple eyes staring coldly down at her.
