2p!Dream let’s gooooooo (Strawberry NM’s twin use she/her on NM btwwww 🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️)
We’re calling him Blueberry Sorbet now
// mentions of death, kidnapping, child abuse, child neglect
Very irritable, very two-faced—but extremely adaptable. He wishes he could distance himself away from his guardianship, his ties to the balance of emotions, be his own person, in his own terms, but alas, he can’t. He cannot run from his responsibilities whilst his crazed sister runs amok.
He’s adaptable in a sense that, he acts in any way that may get him useful allies in his mission. From being kind and caring, to being a good shit-talker. Whatever it takes to have allyship…. And companionship.
Whichever mask he has starts to slip every time he encounters his sister. His anger comes up. His fears come up. He no longer sees his twin, he sees a monster. A serial kidnapper and murderer. No matter how much she tries to reason, his twin is dead.
His mission is to kill Strawberry Nightmare, rescuing any of her ‘patients’ when he can, but ultimately kill her. That way, she would cease to exist, ending her reign of blissful terror, and Dream would be free. Free from the responsibility of being the Guardian of Positivity.
When they were much younger, they were inseparable. Gold and Silver. Sun and Moon. Dreams and Nightmares. Yin and Yang.
As they grew older and as the village developed near their tree, Dream started to grow increasingly more anxious and neglectful of his duties as a guardian. He saw all the children play, learn, grow, love, thrive and die. He wanted that. He wanted a normal life. A life he could lead himself—he didn’t want to be stuck. Stuck with the corpse of a tree. A nag of a sister.
He wanted more companionship too. He loved his twin, but who else was there? His parent is and always will be unresponsive. And he hated how so many idolized him when he himself was just a kid.
So he changed his whole style, his way of life, so he could be a normal kid. Constantly running away from his duties (what was there to do anyway, sit by a tree?) and play with the villager kids. It left Nightmare all alone. So very alone. And when she’s alone, she’s defenseless.
Not only was she abused by the villagers, scarring and bruising so bad that Dream couldn’t help but notice (he chose to ignore it, he wanted to live in normalcy so bad, he couldn’t deter this free of a life by worrying so much), Nightmare mourned her old twin as if he was dead, crying in the day into his old clothes.
Soon the loneliness, became too unbearable. She snapped. And ate the apple.
Random HCs I can’t fit into the paragraphs above:
- Blueberry Sorbet doesn’t really have genuine friends, cuz they never have seen his genuine self. Have come close, but Strawberry is the only one who truly knows, and that is terrifying to him.
- Blueberry Sorbet was in stone, just like OG Dream.
- Blueberry Sorbet has to constantly hold back his anger and fear, if you look closely, he’s always shaking or stiff.
- Has no time to mourn his past life, he gets too queazy.
- If there was an option to save Strawberry from corruption, he wouldn’t take it. He wants her GONE.
- Strawberry adorned slight golden threads in her present day clothing to keep that bit of the old Dream in her mind. And hopefully, make her twin love her once more.
- Blueberry Sorbet wants freedom, to be himself. Strawberry wants her family back.
- Blueberry Sorbet usually visits when Strawb is asleep, carefully navigating and dodging the aggressive corruption—and even the castle walls itself—to save her victims.
- He never got to mature in a way that, yes he is mentally and physically an adult, he just hasn’t fully emotionally matured yet. I mean, how could he?
- His ideal “Mission Complete” scenario is killing Strawberry, and then if he himself doesn’t die because of some ‘imbalance’ then he will live his life free from the crushing responsibility of being a guardian.
- Didn’t pick Blueberry Sorbet Dream as his name, he quite likes it. He won’t admit it but he likes how it directly complements Strawberry Nightmare’s name. He won’t even admit it!!
Fic that inspired all of this (not to a tee but it’s such an enjoyable read)
Used my weekend time to draw them switching wardrobes!! Like totally platonic friends do!! Along with making out and sleeping in the same bed together!!
Can we get to know your headcanons on Strawberry NM? 🙏
Using this as a way to rant about Strawb :3
Sorry for spelling mistakes!!
(remember to use she/her on Strawberry Nightmare!!!! 🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️)
// mentions of suicidal ideation, non-graphic violence, non-consensual hypnotism (idk if it counts though), mentions of kidnapping, forced recovery, botched recovery and manipulation
And have a ref sheet while we’re at it (this took a while to get out cuz my design with her is so inconsistent)
I believe that Strawberry Nightmare would be a crazed therapist of sorts. She kidnaps extremely depressed monsters and humans, places them in her castle to be her “patients.”
(More below—like a lot)
When her twin was still encased in stone she started to kidnap individuals and place her in her castle to heal. She hoped that if when her twin finally emerged, they would see that she was capable of generating positivity! That she wasn’t just a horrible creature of despair and depression.
She didn’t really heal these people though. She would use her magic to drain any kind of negativity they felt, and when she got older and stronger, drained any negativity that they could ever feel (make it so that their soul/brain would be blocked from forming sadness, anger, listlessness and what not and instead direct the hormones and chemicals and magic to her corruption)
She had to store all of that in her corruption.
Everyday she would exhaust herself checking up on everyone, making sure that they were safe, happy, healthy and ‘healing.’ So she would be very tired by the end of the week—and while a guardian, such as herself, doesn’t necessarily need sleep, she likes to indulge in it. And every time she slumbered, her corruption—her tentacles—stayed awake.
And since her tentacles stored every negative thought and feeling of each of the castle’s inhabitants… the corruption would attack them at night. Since almost every single person there, had some form of self hatred and suicidal ideation. Some sort of urge to harm oneself. And so the tentacles fulfilled it.
Always at night though. In the mornings, Strawberry Nightmare could hone her corruption much more effectively.
When it was time for Strawberry Nightmare to awake from her slumber, she would find most, if not all, of her ‘patients’… dead.
This happens over and over and over again. Yet she can’t accept the fact that she let this happen. From kidnapping them, to absolutely draining their negativity, to indulging in sleep… she was to blame.
She doesn’t accept it. Doesn’t even want to begin to acknowledge it. So she keeps on replacing her patients… over and over and over again. Some, the same character. Going to different timelines to repeatedly ‘heal’ and accidentally kill them.
(Murder Time Trio is one of her repeated victims)
After a while of these repeating, she becomes even more controlling, dehumanizes her patients more and more—to the point where she can’t begin to tell the difference between them as a person or a pet.
I would also like to note that when she drains them of all their negativity, it leaves them in a dazed, manic or compulsive state (obv more, but yknow, those are the usual emotions)
Alright onto more random headcanons:
- She can only taste strawberry. The same flavour of strawberry. No matter what. Only thing that ever changes is the texture. She obviously gets very depressed after a short period of time since her corruption, but literally what can she do.
- When people want to taste her she lets them! Easier way to drain their negativity anyways, since all of her goop can access the persons’ souls’ much easier and much safer than her shoving her tentacles inside the persons eye/mouth/nose/really any crevice.
- People describe her taste to be the best strawberries that they’ve ever had. Either the best strawberry fruit, candy, smoothie, ice cream—whatever. She gets jealous though. Cuz she wants to experience the different flavours of strawberry… but yknow… she can’t.
- Yes, she knows her afro puffs resemble cake rolls, no it wasn’t intentional, yes she loves it.
- Very excitable and easy to persuade (in certain stuff)— like in the way you can convince her to renovate her place into a pink bouncy castle lol
- Falls in ‘love’ very easily, and obsessed over that feeling and/or person very easily too.
- Eager to please—especially her twin. When Blueberry Sorbet Dream (that’s him in this AU lol) eventually emerges from stone, she listens to every word they say and will do anything they say. So she’s heartbroken when her twin is absolutely disgusted by her, and/or attacks her and/or runs away from her.
- She suffers from flashbacks, specifically sensory ones. So fleeting touches, pain, impact… yet she hides her reactions extremely well.
- Drug use is kiiiinda allows in her abode, but she basically enchants it so that it doesn’t damage the body tooooo much.
- She’s mostly reminiscent of the biblical and deadly sin of Sloth, but she’s also a bit Gluttony too.
- Very touchy. Emotionally and physically lol.
- Cries very easily, and unlike her Black and Teal counterpart, she doesn’t know how to make fake tears.
- Her corruption became so powerful and potent, it merged with her castle, eventually eating it and replacing every little thing with her corruption. So in a way, or very literally, she is the castle. Funny thing is it was not intentional lol
Alright that’s about it for nowwww, I’ll probably make Blueberry Sorbet Dream later in the future as well as their kid designs…. And maybe more elaborationnnn but we’re pushing that for LATER.
Sorry for the long wait!! I was very busy and very depressed lol
Here have me trying to (sleepily) get used to drawing her expressions
