Misconception: The 2ps are canon characters with personalities.

Reality: The 2ps are alternate character designs with fanmade personalities. While some designs are official, most of them are fanmade.

It’s complicated, but let’s go through it.

The 2ps are alternate character designs made by Himaruya. It’s a play on how in some video games the same character will come in different colours. That way, several players are able to use them at the same time.

Ex: In Super Smash Brothers, players can choose alternate colours for the costumes of the character they want to play as.

Another colour simply means that the colours were changed.

While they haven’t been given canon personalities, the 2ps were drawn by Himaruya to look as if they were part of an evil organization [x]. 

“Well, I thought I’d give them clothes and coloring that’s a bit different than usual, so I drew them to look more like heels or someone who could run an evil organization.

I like that Italy looks like a bad boy.”

Therefore, any 2p that is depicted with a personality is completely fanmade.

The Axis are the only original characters in Hetalia to receive this second colouring [x].

Although, Poland was once given an alternate blue military uniform in 2008 [x].

The remaining 2p designs that are most commonly seen are fanmade. They’re genderbent versions of the “Nyotalia” alternate colour designs that were posted in 2011 [x].

On the other hand, in 2013, Himaruya created real 2P designs for America, Austria, Canada, China, England, France, Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, Spain, and Turkey [x].

Notice how their clothing differs slightly.

According to Hetarchive, it’s left unclear whether these latter draft designs are for separate characters or if they’re just alternate colours/designs [x].

In sum, some 2ps are official designs while most are not. Likewise, any 2p character with a personality is fanmade.

2p America personal headcanons

2p America / Allen Jones

- I like to think that he is from Boston and has heavy Boston accent

- when he was a child, he got bullied for having two dads and was an outcast for a long time and Allen was putting up with it because he didn’t want anybody to do something about it because he thought it would get worse

- the bullying got him to breaking point when the kids brought his dead dog in front of his doors

- when Allen saw it, he ran into his room and not even Matthew could get him out of there for more than week

- he blamed himself and started seriously thinking about his life as it has been

- that resulted him to being a vegan since he didn’t want any animals to get hurt because of him and permanently insecure about himself

- when Allen got out of the room, he has changed. He was not that sweet cheeky child but had facial expression that got even Francois to try and talk to him

“Allen where are you going?” “I need to take care of something.”

- nobody has ever heard about those little shits (the bullies) again

- when the summer holidays started, he started working on his looks (he started working out a lot, got a new haircut, piercings, some tattoos and went to buy new styled clothes), even his voice got finally deep (and MAN that is some good ass shit with his accent)

- when the last year of high school started, he was completely new person

- no more was he showing weakness and true emotions, not even smiles

- now to others, it’s only his cheeky personality that he got back again, smirks and suggestive actions and language

- he worked out his ways to talk to others and made them want to talk to him, so he no longer was the annoying needy outsider (as he was saying)

- I honestly think he had good grades without even trying because Oliver would study with him when he saw that Allen lacks something in the subject

- even tho Allen had good grades, he had to change schools often because he is a fighter since then and really good one

- he gets into street fights often and sometimes he just randomly fights with someone if he feels bored or as if he needs to calm down

- Allen was going into strip clubs and brothels to gain some of the real confidence and what can I say? The girls and guys there loved him, he was a natural talent as they said

- he had some gilfriends and even a few boyfriends but it was more about trying that relationship shit

- when he saw a new girl transfer into his current school, that didn’t want to fuck him at his first words, he was quite interested since he likes challenges just as much as he loves baseball

- after a while he develops a crush on her and she seems to like him back

- after dates and all that stuff, they become a couple

- well, even when everything has been working out for him, he opened up to her and she accepted him (I feel fucking jealous writing this why T-T) and his love got stronger

- if she wouldn’t leave him without a word, it would not resulted him being a yandere (just sayin’ guys, just sayin’)

- he found her and they had a fight which resulted him loosing control over his anger and killing her (guess with what?)

- he didn’t even feel a thing

“Oh, I’m sorry babe, but I told you I won’t let you go~”

- when the time has come, he met a new person, a wonderful person (his future s/o) and it was not that sweet love, it was the feeling of true possessives and want to be loved by someone and never let them away

- and that’s where my headcanons for him starts~
